Taking Your Gaming To The Next Level

-

It is a hobby that we all love and enjoy wasting away our days with, but how many of us would like to earn a bit of cash from playing? There are, of course, many great examples of gamers who have gone from bedroom to mansion with perseverance and a lot of skills or personality. You may well dream of becoming one of those gamers. Whether eSports is your thing, or if you dream of Youtuber admiration, there are avenues that you could explore if you want to take your gaming to the next level.

Start Blogging

If you have an opinion on the direction of that gameplay seems to be moving in, or you simply want to share your secrets, you could start up your own blog that offers your unique insight into the world of gaming. Your first step will be to work out your precise niche. You may want to try and cover a wide range of games and provide an opinion, news, and tips. You may choose to focus your attention purely on one game, or a particular series.

Once you have your niche, your site up and running. You could use services such as WordPress, Blogger, or Wix. If you want to get the best from your site, you should look at web hosting options from hosting.co.uk. The next stage will be to pick a theme for your site. There are lots of excellent customizable theme templates available, and they are far simpler to set up than you might imagine.

If you want to get people reading your site, you will need to post great content on it often- daily, if possible. Make sure you create the option on your site for your readers to leave comments, as building a community within your readership will be important when it comes to growing your site.

Share everything that you post onto social media. You should set up accounts on all of the major platforms and build up followers there. Remember to present yourself professionally. Don’t use the pages as your own personal account.

When you have a regular following, you can start to monetize your site. There are a number of ways that you can do this. One way would be to have advertisements placed within your site. Try and aim to get relevant adverts that your followers are likely to be interested in. Another way that you should look into is affiliate marketing. There are many companies that manage affiliate programs, and a great example to start you off is the Amazon affiliates site where you can generate links and clickable images of relevant products that you can share on your site. Each time anyone buys that product after clicking through your site, you will earn a commission. This can be slow pickings, so you will need to do everything you can to include as many naturally placed affiliate links on your content while simultaneously attracting as many people onto your site as possible.

Another way to earn money would be to create special content that you can sell to your visitors. For example, by creating walkthrough guides in ebook form, you can generate an income through sales of each copy.

YouTube

YouTube is the jewel in the crown when it comes to gaming. Becoming a YouTuber is a career aspiration for many. However, getting the success that they expect may be harder than they imagine.

Firstly, you will need to get yourself set up with the right equipment. Get a good quality camera and microphone, screen capture software, video editing software, and access to the games and platform that you will be including in your content.

Finding the right niche is essential. You will need to be an expert in that area and have something new to offer. Bare in mind that you will be up against hundreds or thousands of other wannabe YouTubers, all providing their own insight into the games that they love. Your spin on things needs to be unique. It may be the way that you deliver it, or it could be the information that you are communicating. Either way, content that is unoriginal will sink.

Building up your channel views will take time. You will need to post videos very frequently and stick around for any feedback that you get. You will not be the next Dan TDM after posting one video. Take any criticism on board if it is constructive, and ignore any abusive comments. If you are engaged within the comments section by your viewers, try and respond in a positive and upbeat manner.

Getting people to go and view your content may mean sharing your videos on social media. Creating profiles on sites like Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook could be an excellent way of building up your following outside of YouTube and driving your traffic back.

Check out other content on YouTube and follow relevant content. Comment on other posts, but don’t resort to blindly spamming your own videos in other people’s content. It is not the way to win fans.

While you are no doubt very passionate about the subject that you are talking about, the overall aims of your channel will no doubt be to monetize it. You’ll need to get over a thousand followers on-site first. You will also need to maintain at least 4,000 viewed hours on your channel over the year. The more content that you are creating, the more chance you will have of meeting those targets.

Networking will be critical to your success, so look for up and coming YouTubers working in a similar niche to you and see if you can partner up somehow and create some content together. Merging your skillsets and your followings is an excellent way of doubling your strength. You may want to link to each other’s content in the future, too, and having that rapport with other YouTubers is vital for engagement in your content.
