During the SXSW Gaming Expo in Texas, Telltale Games had a spot to unveil details about the upcoming Tales from the Borderlands game series. The main talking point comes from the characters you’ll be playing as.
If you remember back when the announcement trailer came out (if not, don’t worry it’s at the bottom of this post), the two featured unknowns have now been given identities. The protagonists aren’t quite the adventurous Vault Hunters but seemingly two people who lived through the events of Pandora leading up to the current state we know. Fiona & Rhys are those in the trailer whom pay a visit to Marcus; one is a con-artist (Fiona) and the other a Hyperion worker with a cybernetic enhancement (Rhys).
Each character will have their own unique set of skills, we’ll see Fiona making use of her fast talking ways and Rhys can hack into things using a robotic arm. As you follow them you’ll apparently pick up on differences on the narrators’ attempts to present the versions of events, with Kevin Bruner from Telltale Games describing it as a Big Fish style recollection. “You never really play what actually happened, you’re playing this Big Fish version of what happened,”
What do you think of these two characters? Will Gearbox be able to add some of the highly explosive ways without compromising what we’ve seen in Telltales’ episodic tales so far?
