How 2 Escape Lost Submarine – out now!

The unique co-op puzzle experience that forces you to talk to your partner is back with an all-new, high-stakes adventure in How 2 Escape: Lost Submarine.

The latest in the How 2 Escape series, this thrilling escape room-like game from developer Breakfirst Games and publisher Maximum Entertainment is now available on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 4/PlayStation 5 for £10.99.

Preventing Global War, One Puzzle at a Time

This isn’t your typical couch co-op game; it’s an asymmetrical challenge where two players must work together across different devices to prevent a global catastrophe.

An important allied military base has been captured by enemy forces, prompting the government to order a preemptive torpedo strike to reclaim it. However, after tense negotiations, the strike that could spark a global war has been cancelled.

There’s just one problem: “The Triumphant,” the submarine carrying the torpedo, is out of communication range, and no one can confirm if the cancellation orders were received.

You and a friend are tasked with playing as officers Haurée and Leroy, two of the fleet’s best experts, on a mission to locate “The Triumphant” before time runs out. But you’ll face a reality you didn’t expect, as a moral dilemma has ignited among the submarine’s crew.

Gameplay: Two Players, Two Screens, One Goal

How 2 Escape: Lost Submarine takes cooperative problem-solving to the next level, requiring constant and clear communication.

  • The Investigator (Player 1) – One player takes on the role of the Investigator on the main screen (your TV via your Xbox). Your job is to locate and explore the inside of the submarine, uncovering clues, interacting with the environment, and describing what you see to your partner.
  • The Operator (Player 2) – Your friend, the Operator, is tasked with using the dedicated free How 2 Escape: Lost Submarine Companion App on their smartphone, tablet, or another PC (available on iOS/Android/PC). This app provides them with vital information, diagrams, and codes that they must relay back to the Investigator. Only by combining the information from both screens can you solve the puzzles together.

We’ve been anticipating this tense co-op puzzler since it was first unveiled. As we covered back in March, we knew it was time to team up or sink as How 2 Escape: Lost Submarine was unveiled. Now, the time has come to put those communication skills to the test.

Key Features

  • Unique Asymmetrical Co-op Gameplay: Two players, two devices, one goal. One player explores the sub on console/PC while the other provides vital info via a free companion app.
  • Tense Escape Room Experience: Solve new challenging puzzles under the pressure of a ticking clock.
  • Gripping High-Stakes Story: Work to locate a missing submarine to prevent the start of a global war.
  • Communication is Key: Success requires logic, coordination, observation, and, above all, clear communication with your partner.

The fate of the world literally lies in your hands (and your friend’s – blame them if it goes wrong!).

If you’re looking for a truly unique and engaging co-op puzzle experience that will test your friendship as much as your brainpower, How 2 Escape: Lost Submarine is available to download right now on the Xbox Store and other digital platforms.
