Set to release on console and PC in 2022 is Stormind Games’ cosmic action-RPG, Batora: Lost Haven. It was already one to keep an eye on, but now we’ve got the Team17 brand behind it, the excitement levels increase.
It’s well known that Team17 rarely miss the mark (Worms Rumble, Overcooked! and Planet Alpha prove that) and having picked up a ton of great games over the year, it makes Batora: Lost Haven one to stick on the radar.
Created by Stormind Games and set to launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|s, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5 and PC through Steam, Batora: Lost Haven takes us to a world following the events of a global disaster on Earth leaving players to take on an emotive adventure across the stars, with a rich and branching narrative of choice and consequence that will change the destiny of the universe.
Batora: Lost Haven also combines hack & slash and twin-stick shooter combat mechanics tied to separate physical and mental health bars for deep strategic and tactical gameplay, and when you throw in a beautiful retro sci-fi art style, it makes it all the more interesting.
Batora: Lost Haven key features include:
- Deep, branching narrative: Unravel an interplanetary journey as the only person who can save Earth from its impending oblivion
Unique ‘Nature Switch’ mechanic: Balance mental and physical powers to overcome the hostile environments and enemies as the story unfolds - Reactive, non-linear storytelling: Your choices will change the fate of the universe and of the creatures that inhabit it. Will you be a Conqueror or Defender?
- Beautiful retro sci-fi art style: Enjoy colourful and fascinating planets and hand-painted visuals inspired by the retro science fiction art styles of the 1950s
If you like the sound of that and can’t wait until 2022, registrations are open to take part in a closed alpha for the game on PC, which begins on 21st July.
Antonio Cannata, CEO and Co-Founder of Stormind Games, said “Following our big announcement at E3 of the upcoming PC alpha next month, we’re thrilled to confirm we’ve found our publishing partner for Batora: Lost Haven. Team17’s heritage as an independent games label is incredibly strong, so it’s a natural fit as we look towards next year’s multiplatform launch.”
Christie Sandy, Head of External Production, Team17, said “We’re really excited to play a part of Batora: Lost Haven’s interplanetary journey with Stormind Games; it’s an engaging narrative that really leans into eye-catching 1950s sci-fi inspired visuals and unique mechanics that will make the game a memorable experience. We’re eager to see the response of action-RPG fans to next month’s alpha, which will offer a tantalising taster of what’s to come in the full game when it launches in 2022.”
