Tears Revolude begins with a mystery – a vanished artist, unfinished work, and a journey that slowly pulls its characters into something far bigger than they expected.

Now available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Play Anywhere, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, this latest release from KEMCO and WorldWideSoftware leans heavily into classic JRPG traditions, pairing old-school systems with a modern presentation.

A Story Built Around Mystery And Connection

At the centre of Tears Revolude is a narrative that unfolds gradually. A century after the disappearance of the artist Orwiel, two characters – Sion and Michelle – set out to uncover his final works. Along the way, they encounter Liara, a girl with no memory of her past but a presence that quickly becomes central to everything that follows.

If you’ve spent time with traditional JRPGs, the foundations here will feel instantly recognisable.

Combat is command-based and turn-driven, focusing on clarity and accessibility rather than complexity. Battles are brought to life through smooth animations and bold visual effects, giving even simple encounters a sense of impact.

It’s designed to be easy to pick up, but still offers room for strategy as your party grows.

Growth Through Use, Not Just Numbers

One of the more interesting systems in Tears Revolude is how it handles progression.

Each character can learn up to five skills, and rather than remaining static, those abilities evolve the more you use them. That creates a natural sense of growth tied directly to your playstyle.

Alongside that, weapon upgrades at the blacksmith allow you to further shape your party, giving you multiple ways to build towards stronger setups.

And battles aren’t just about steady damage. As you fight, you’ll build an SP gauge that can be spent on powerful abilities. Hold onto it, and you can unleash even bigger, combined attacks with your allies, turning the tide in tougher encounters.

Multiple Editions And Optional Boosts

Tears Revolude launches with both a Standard Edition (ÂŁ16.74) and a Special Edition (ÂŁ33.49).

The Special Edition includes a range of optional add-ons, such as increased experience gain, boosted skill proficiency, reduced encounters and damage multipliers. These can also be purchased separately, giving players flexibility in how they approach progression.

For some, these will act as quality-of-life tweaks; for others, they may alter the balance of the experience entirely.

A New Tale Worth Exploring

Tears Revolude delivers a steady, character-driven RPG experience across multiple platforms.

It’s not about spectacle or constant reinvention, but about taking familiar ideas and presenting them with care. If you’re looking for a classic-style adventure with a focus on story, progression and thoughtful pacing, this is one journey that may be worth stepping into.

We’ll find out in review soon.
