Teleport your way to victory in Warp Drive on Xbox

warp drive

Warp Drive is just a standard everyday arcade racer, yeah? Well, no. Because in Warp Drive you’ll find yourself teleporting your way to victory.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, Warp Drive comes about via the Supergonk team, playing on the back of a previous PC and Apple Arcade drop.

It comes to Xbox with a rather distinct visual style, one that weirdly has been used to a lesser extent in the most recent Need for Speed Unbound. Bright, supercolourful and running as smooth as you could imagine, Warp Drive is all about crossing the line first. It’s just how you go about that which is a little different to the norm.

Priced at £20.99, Warp Drive throws you behind the wheel of a powerful Quad Rotor; a drone-cum-WipeOut-styled racecraft. From there, it’s all about the win, as you hit the track with a number of others, looking to best anything and everything they can do.

Upgrading that Quad Rotor is key to your success, but so is the utilisation of many weapon types – missiles, bombs, and more. But the most exciting addition to Warp Drive is the inclusion of the titular teleporting black holes, as you quite literally warp your way to victory.

We’re super excited to get hands-on with Warp Drive on Xbox, providing a review on the back of our playthrough. If you wish to join us, hit up the Xbox Store and take home a download.

Game Description:

WARP DRIVE is fast-paced racing with a brand new way to drive: TELEPORT around the track to find shortcuts and hidden routes! Get behind the wheel of a powerful QUAD ROTOR to test your creative driving abilities. Race on the ceiling, jump huge canyons and drive up waterfalls in an epic inverted racing battle! UPGRADE your quad rotor in-between races, gradually improving its abilities, parts and appearance. Follow the advice of your outspoken manager, Lenny, or just ignore whatever he says… what do aliens know about racing, anyway?! Use deadly HOMING MISSILES to smash opponents, or lay traps with BOMB MINES. Drive smartly, battle rivals, boost fast and warp your way to victory!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
