Tempus – Level Escape takes us on a journey through time

We never know what to make of a JanduSoft game. Pretty busy in their output, if it comes with that JanduSoft publishing tag attached, it could be a hit or a miss. We’re hoping that Tempus – Level Escape is most definitely the former.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch, Tempus is a first person puzzler which will take us on a journey through time itself.

It’s been created by K148 Game Studio, with JanduSoft handling the publishing, much like they’ve done with a plethora of games in recent times – Lootlite and Superola Champion Edition for instance. This one could well be different though as it looks to immediately have something about it.

Priced up at £5.79 from the Xbox Store, there are a mere six levels included in Tempus, but each and every one of those seem to be full to the brim with a host of puzzles; ramping up in difficulty as you make progress.

A game that takes you through the delicacies of time itself, the portal that you enter throws you into a land some two centuries in the future. It’s up to you to move forwards in time, all in order to re-activate a portal which will whisk you back to present times.

The question is, will you be able to make it to the end, in order to reach the start?

The key game features include:

  • A first person adventure about time.
  • Solve a lot of puzzles to continue the journey.
  • Travel through 6 levels where you will see how civilization changes over hundreds and hundreds of years.

We like how Tempus looks, and we very much have interest in the premise. Whether it all comes together or not is up for debate – just stay tuned for our full upcoming review of how it works on Xbox Series X|S.

Should you wish to pick up Tempus – Level Escape for yourself, the usual digital stores await. Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S folk should head to the Xbox Store, and those on new-gen consoles will find a download that is fully optimised for that. PlayStation and Nintendo Switch players need to hunt Tempus down on their own various stores.

Game Description:

You are the only citizen of TEMPUS, a small island far from civilisation where you live a quiet and carefree life. One night everything changes and a blinding light appears along with a thunderous sound, as you approach the light disappears revealing a portal and some basic instructions. As you enter, you discover that it is a time travel portal and you appear in your home, but 200 years in the future. You soon realise that this is a one-way trip as you cannot travel backwards in time, only forwards. Your goal from then on is to re-activate the portal so that you can travel back and try to understand what is going on. You must explore each scenario to find a way to restore power to the portal so you can continue your journey into the unknown. TEMPUS is an adventure full of puzzles of varying difficulty, you will see how the scenery changes over thousands and thousands of years. You will witness the impact of time on your island. Throughout 6 levels, you will see how civilization changes over hundreds and hundreds of years. Will you be able to make it to the end?

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Bought Tempus out of curiosity and I really had a good time while playing. I really like the art style, the sound and the slightly melancholic mood of the game. There were several interesting and fair puzzles, mostly easy, intelligent (e.g. the piano thing). Took me 3 hrs to explore every corner. Perfect length for moms and dads in fulltime employment and I don’t regret the 6€ in preorder. Had some issues (short freezes in the blizzard level and some light stutters in the last level on Series X) but no dealbreaker for me. I really hope to see more from K148 on Xbox. Thank you for introducing the game here.
