Terminal Shift – out now on Xbox

Airports are stressful enough without being hunted by an unknown entity. Terminal Shift turns one of the world’s most familiar locations into a looping psychological nightmare, challenging Xbox players to escape a deserted terminal where reality refuses to stay still.

Now available exclusively on Xbox Series X|S for ÂŁ4.99, this indie horror experience combines exploration, puzzle-solving and survival as you search for the code that could finally lead to freedom.

Every Loop Brings You Closer… Or Further Away

Forget finding your passport or rushing to the departure gate – your biggest problem in Terminal Shift is escaping an airport that seems determined to keep you trapped forever.

The terminal has become an endless maze, resetting over and over as you search for a 10-digit access code needed to unlock the boarding gates. Each loop hides a single number somewhere within the environment, but finding it isn’t as simple as checking a departures board.

Some digits appear in plain sight, while others are cleverly disguised within objects, architecture or unusual visual patterns. The code changes every new playthrough, encouraging players to carefully inspect every corner of the terminal rather than relying on memory alone.

Keep Looking Over Your Shoulder

Of course, solving puzzles would be far easier if you were alone. But you aren’t.

An unknown entity stalks the airport, emerging from the shadows to hunt anyone attempting to escape. Staying alert becomes just as important as spotting hidden clues, with every new loop increasing the tension as you weigh up whether to keep searching or run for your life.

The result is a horror experience built around atmosphere and uncertainty, with minimal HUD elements helping to maintain immersion throughout. However, players looking for an extra dose of nostalgia can activate an optional VHS camera mode, giving Terminal Shift an old-school found-footage aesthetic complete with a zoom function. Alongside multiple difficulty settings, it’s another way to tailor the experience while exploring the abandoned airport’s unsettling corridors.

Ready For Boarding?

Psychological horror often works best when it takes familiar places and twists them into something deeply unsettling, and Terminal Shift certainly goes big with that idea. An endless airport, procedurally generated puzzles and an unseen predator combine to create a tense escape room where every loop could reveal the clue you’ve been searching for – or the creature that’s been searching for you.

Terminal Shift is available now through the Xbox Store, playable on Xbox Series X|S, priced at ÂŁ4.99.
