There are some games that let you tweak a loadout… and then there’s TerraTech Legion on Game Pass, which basically hands you a pile of parts and says “go build something ridiculous.”
Now launching on Xbox Series X|S and PC (with Play Anywhere support), and dropping Day One into Game Pass Ultimate and PC tiers, this latest spin on the TerraTech formula looks to crank the chaos up to maximum.
Published by Mythwright and developed by Payload Studios, TerraTech Legion throws you into a galaxy under siege – and expects you to build your way out of it.

Build It, Break It, Rebuild It Better
If the name rings a bell, that’s because TerraTech Legion builds on the foundations laid by TerraTech – a game we covered back in 2018 that thrived on letting players create weird and wonderful machines.
Legion takes that concept and drops it into a much more intense, survival-driven structure.
Every run begins with a simple idea: build a vehicle. But how that vehicle looks – and performs – is entirely up to you. Want a nimble speedster packed with boosters? Go for it. Prefer a hulking tank covered in lasers and drills? That works too. The twist is that your design isn’t just cosmetic. It directly impacts how you move, fight and survive.
Bullet Heaven Meets Mechanical Mayhem
Once your creation hits the ground, the real test begins.
TerraTech Legion leans heavily into bullet heaven territory, throwing wave after wave of hostile AI bots your way. These aren’t just random encounters either; you’ll be hunting down outposts, smashing factories and eventually taking on massive boss mechs guarding each world.
It’s a constant push-and-pull between offence and survival. Do you double down on firepower? Or tweak your build for speed and manoeuvrability? And because everything is physics-driven, every decision matters. Hit something at speed and you’ll feel it. Build something unstable and… well, good luck holding it together.
One More Run Energy
Like any good roguelite, TerraTech Legion thrives on progression.
Each run feeds into the next, unlocking new blocks, new upgrades and entirely new ways to build. You’ll experiment with different corporations too – from the heavy-duty GeoCorp builds to the slick, fast Venture setups or the weapon-heavy Hawkeye Systems.
There’s always something new to try, another configuration to test, another planet to cleanse of the Legion threat.
And with upgrade pods, reward crates and persistent improvements between missions, it taps perfectly into that addictive loop.
A Bigger, Louder TerraTech
Where the original TerraTech was about creativity and sandbox freedom, TerraTech Legion feels more focused, more aggressive, more immediate.
It’s still about building, still about experimenting, but now there’s urgency behind every decision. The Legion is coming, the bots aren’t slowing down, and your latest creation might just be the difference between survival and scrap.
With its mix of modular construction, frantic combat and Game Pass Day One availability, TerraTech Legion is an easy one to jump into – and a hard one to put down. Or at least, that’s how it feels. We’ll work out if it does come together in that way in full review.
Pick up TerraTech Legion from the Xbox Store. It’s ÂŁ8.99 if you prefer to pay cold hard cash.
