The Travel Adapter You’ll Use Every Single Trip
It’s hard to get too excited about a travel adapter, but having travelled the length and breadth of the UK in recent weeks, as well as pushing many miles into mainland Europe, it’s safe to say that the TESSAN Universal Travel Adapter has become a bit of a lifesaver.
Okay, maybe not a lifesaver. But it’s been super useful. And at no point has it ever missed a beat.
A white brick of a unit, the TESSAN Universal Travel Adapter has been chucked in my backpack, and thrown around in my suitcase to become one of, if not the, most used product on recent trips away. It’s been my go-to for power, whether that be in UK hotels, or those in Europe. See, this little brick is capable of handling anything and everything you chuck at it, no matter where you are in the world.
Worldwide Compatibility Makes Travelling Easy
By its very nature, the TESSAN Universal Travel Adapter looks to find a niche market in which travellers require power. I don’t know about you, but I’d say that’s pretty much every man, woman, and their dog, as laptops need charging, phones need topping up, and power banks need, well, power. It’s especially useful for those of us with a ROG Ally X handheld too…
It’s with that in which this thing excels. Set up to cover the UK, the EU, and across to the USA and Australia, three easy-to-use sliders allow the user to dictate the power input that is required. The top slider for instance will see a two-pronged US/AUS option emerge from its shell, whilst the middle replaces those for a three-pin plug for use in the UK. The bottom slider then gives access to the rounder EU plug.
With your choice of plug decided, and the slider clicked into place, it’s a simple case of plugging the TESSAN Universal Travel Adapter into the power socket of your choice. Like we say, we’ve used this in mainland Britain, as well as across Europe. As much as we wanted to be at the recent World Cup, we’ll have to trust TESSAN that the US and Australia plug works as intended.
Plenty Of Ports For All Your Devices
From there, more options open up. There are two USB-A ports on one side, sitting pretty alongside a couple of more useful USB-C options. Each of those has been vital for our use, as we’ve connected up MacBooks, phones, and a variety of different power banks, like those from UGREEN. Being able to charge multiple devices simultaneously meant we never once found ourselves fighting over hotel sockets. Even if speed was not of the essence.
On another side though, the TESSAN Universal Travel Adapter is capable of taking in standard plugs too – a three-pin affair for the UK for instance. Again though, if you’re looking to power products that come with US or EU plugs on the end, this will handle it.
With a small LED lighting up to signify power, and that white brick broken up by some pale grey aesthetics along with a whopping great TESSAN logo, there’s no doubt that this TESSAN Universal Travel Adapter looks pretty smart too. We’ll say it again – we aren’t here to get too excited about a travel adapter, but we cannot fault this one for how it looks, or how it works. Flawless.
Compact Design With A Few Minor Compromises
We guess you’ll probably want a few stats and figures to back up those aesthetics though and the TESSAN Universal Travel Adapter weighs less than 150 grams, and runs a diminutive 5 x 5.3 x 7.1 cm. It’s about as light and small as you could possibly get for an adapter that fits in so much.
Probably the only thing that lets it down slightly is the power output it allows. We have found that – in times of need – the power delivery is a little lower than we would like, taking longer to charge devices, but if you’re good with the four USB ports knocking out a combined 21W output, you’ll be fine with this one. And whilst we’re on that subject, the USB-A ports support 2.4A, with the USB-C ones taking that up to 3A. Better still? Well, smart controls inside help to optimise the charging.
Need more? We would suspect that TESSAN would love for us to mention that this travel adapter is fully compliant with cruise ship regs (our next port of call for testing), whilst safety is very much front and centre – a double 10A fuse protection sits with integrated safety shutters. There’s even a spare fuse integrated if needed. Don’t see this thing as a voltage converter, mind.
A Travel Essential That Simply Gets The Job Done
Running a 5-in-1 design complete with four USB ports, a tiny size and a decent weight, we have no doubt that the TESSAN Universal Travel Adapter should be in your bag whilst travelling. It’ll do a job when back at home too, as you look to charge multiple devices at once.
Throw in the reasonably low asking price (at time of writing, £16.99 / $22.99 on Amazon), and travel currently high on the agenda, we’d have no qualms in recommending the TESSAN Universal Travel Adapter for your use.
