Detective Missions Add A New Way To Drive
Building on previous seasons, Season 6 introduces something a little different to the usual high-speed racing formula – Detective missions.
Instead of blasting through checkpoints or chasing podium finishes, players are tasked with tailing targets discreetly, keeping a careful distance while navigating traffic, weather conditions and road layouts. It’s a slower, more methodical style of gameplay that adds variety to the overall experience.
These missions were actually chosen by the community, and they’ll continue to expand over the course of the season and its mid-season update, suggesting this is just the beginning for investigative gameplay in Solar Crown.
Hong Kong Island Gets A Major Overhaul
One of the most significant changes in Season 6 is the complete rework of Hong Kong Island’s topography.
The island has been rebuilt with greater attention to detail, improving everything from building design and colour to the density of green spaces. Roads now feel more varied too, with updated intersections, traffic lights and signage helping the city feel more alive and authentic.
Given that exploration has always been a core pillar of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, this overhaul could make a noticeable difference to how the world feels on every drive.
New Cars And A Familiar Name Returns
No new season would be complete without fresh cars, and Season 6 delivers with a strong lineup.
Leading the charge is the return of Pagani, with the stunning Huayra Roadster joining the roster. It’s accompanied by a mix of modern performance machines and iconic models, expanding the already diverse garage.
Alongside the vehicles, a new Solar Pass introduces unlockable rewards, including additional cars, cosmetics and accessories for players to chase.
Ibiza Expands With Style And Customisation
And while Hong Kong gets a structural overhaul, Ibiza (a Season 2 addition) receives a more lifestyle-focused addition.
Clothing stores have arrived on the island, giving players new ways to customise their avatars. It’s a feature that long-time fans of the series will recognise, bringing back a sense of personal expression that has always been part of the Test Drive Unlimited identity.
With more cosmetic options available, players can better define their presence both on and off the road.
Season 6 also introduces a collaboration with Michelin, bringing themed content into the game through events, vehicle packs and cosmetic items.
Beyond the headline features, there’s a continued focus on technical and network improvements, with fixes aimed at improving session stability and overall performance.
Building Towards The Future
This latest update isn’t just about the present – it’s also a sign of what’s ahead.
The development team is working on crossplay and cross-region features, alongside future additions like the Official Racing Center in Season 7 and housing planned for Season 8. It’s a roadmap that suggests Solar Crown is still very much evolving.
When we reviewed Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, we noted its strong foundation, particularly in its recreation of Hong Kong Island, while also highlighting the need for further content and refinement.
Season 6 feels like a response to that. It expands the gameplay, improves the world, and continues to build on the MMO-style racing experience the game is aiming for.
