Build a Bridge – NOW!

The ultimate engineering question is back, in a new physics-based puzzle game where the stakes are high and the crashes are spectacular.

Build a Bridge!, from BoomBit, has launched. This new challenge is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC for the low price of just ÂŁ8.39, and comes with full Xbox Play Anywhere support.

It’s time to gather your wits, get on with the construction, and build bridges for cars, trucks, and even monster trucks!

Can It Cross the Chasm of a Crowded Genre?

Let’s be honest, the bridge-building simulation genre on Xbox is a crowded and often treacherous one. We’ve seen many titles try, and often fall into a rut. Just recently, in our 3/5 review of Bridge Constructor Studio, we noted that “a lack of identity” and a failure to “innovate or find anything new to say” held it back.

So, the big question is: can Build a Bridge! successfully span this gap and deliver a truly fresh and engaging experience where so many others have crumbled?

The Blueprint for Success

The game is split into two distinct phases, offering a one-two punch of methodical planning and chaotic, physics-based results.

This is where you put on your hard hat and become an engineer. The game presents a simple 2D interface where you’ll select the best materials for your bridge and connect the dots to make the most resilient structure you can.

You can approach each of the 80+ levels as a complex puzzle, trying to be as efficient as possible. But, in a fun twist, the game also encourages you to just go crazy and construct something that looks “outrageous but still somehow works.”

When you’re done, it’s time to switch to the 3D mode and see if your creation holds up. You’ll have to watch as cars, trucks, buses, and even monster trucks attempt to drive across your bridge. Will it hold, or will you be treated to a spectacular, fiery crash?

For those who find the physics a bit too punishing, Build a Bridge! includes some fantastic features to lower the stress. The game features an Easy Mode for a more relaxed gameplay session, focusing on pure creativity and improvisation. You can also use an in-game hint system if things get too hard.

Your Blueprint, on Any Device

Build a Bridge! is an Xbox Play Anywhere title. This fantastic feature means your engineering career can continue, no matter which device you’re on. A single digital purchase on the Xbox Store for ÂŁ8.39 unlocks the game for you on both your Xbox console and your Windows PC. All of your bridge designs and progress are synced via the cloud, so you can seamlessly switch between platforms.

Your Construction Itinerary

Here’s what you can expect from this new physics-puzzler:

  • A Classic “2D Plan, 3D Test” Gameplay Loop.
  • Build for a Variety of Vehicles: Including cars, trucks, buses, and monster trucks.
  • Two Ways to Play: Be an efficient engineer or “go crazy” with outrageous designs.
  • 80+ Levels plus hidden and bonus bridges.
  • Accessible for All: Features an Easy Mode and a full hint system.
  • Full Xbox Play Anywhere Support.

The first level is waiting, and your materials are ready. If you’re a fan of physics-based puzzlers and are looking for a new, budget-friendly challenge that doesn’t take itself too seriously, Build a Bridge! is ready for your blueprint on the Xbox Store right now.

Game Description

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
