Thank Goodness Youre Here
Thank Goodness You’re Here – now on Xbox

When a game like Thank Goodness You’re Here! shows up on Xbox Series X|S, PC, handheld and Play Anywhere, it is hard not to stop, grin, and dive straight into the chaos.

Previously delighting players on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam), this BAFTA-winning slapformer finally expands its reach – and Barnsworth’s wonderfully weird residents are absolutely ready to welcome new victims… sorry, visitors.

A Northern Town That Gets Odd Very Quickly

Set in the surreal Yorkshire settlement of Barnsworth, Thank Goodness You’re Here! follows an early-arriving travelling salesman who has time to kill before a crucial meeting with the mayor. Naturally, instead of sitting quietly, he ends up dragged into increasingly bizarre tasks by locals who treat nonsense as a competitive sport.

Hand-drawn animation brings every strange inhabitant to life, while fully voiced performances – including the unmistakable Matt Berry – help the town feel both authentically British and unashamedly bonkers.

This is a place where you might cut grass one minute, bake pies the next, and then suddenly slip into the astral plane because… well, Barnsworth.

A Critical Darling With BAFTA Recognition

This is not just a quirky comedy platformer – it is an acclaimed one. The game scored seven nominations at the 2025 BAFTA Games Awards and won Best British Game outright. It also picked up major nods at the IGF Awards and DICE Awards.

We loved it too. In our 4.5 out of 5 review, we praised its unpredictability and bold, surreal swings:

There’s no such thing as a trope or cliche in Barnsworth… It’s best to offer up your hand and trust it. Sure, it might slap that hand, but the pain will be worth it.

Players can jump into a world packed with regional dialects, folklore-inspired stories, stacks of innuendo and a soundtrack that leans into the game’s emotional – yet delightfully absurd – heart.

Barnsworth Awaits – If You’re Brave Enough

Thank Goodness You’re Here! lands on Xbox and the Xbox Store (£15.99) with the confidence of a game that already knows it is great – and one that is more than happy to drag you along for the ride.

Barnsworth is messy, mischievous and marvellously unpredictable. Whether you are here for the gags, the art, the folklore or simply the joy of causing absolute pandemonium, you are in for a treat.

And if the locals insist you help tidy their garden, fetch a pie or visit another dimension… well, thank goodness you’re here to deal with it.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
