We were – and continue to be – big fans of Amazon Games’ New World: Aeternum when it released on Xbox at the back end of 2024. Available today as a free update for New World: Aeternum players on Xbox, PlayStation and PC, Season 9: Season of the Banner is certainly one for PvP fans.
Not only is the Capture the Flag mode making its full debut, but closer-quarters action can also be found in the 3v3 arena Temple map, allowing players to use their melee weapons in an optimised setting.
Throw in massive improvements to reward earning in the free-for-all game mode, and there’s no better time to jump into New World: Aeternum’s PvP modes and start racking up the loot!
Of course, as is the case with any season, Season of the Banner brings with it a new ‘Season Track’. This battle pass comes in both Free and Premium flavours, allowing fans to unlock new cosmetics, boosts and gear whether they wish to fork out some cash or not.

Season 9 also sees the popular Summer Medleyfaire event return to the shores of Aeternum. This event transforms areas across the map into hubs with music, fishing and, most important of all, rewards. Players can take in the festivities through the following means:

- Musical Performances: Team up with friends or go solo using the in-game rhythm mini-game. New songs and rewards may be available this season.
- Fishing for Fame: Catch rare fish, complete fishing-related tasks, and exchange them for exclusive cosmetics and furnishings.
- Event Tokens and Rewards: Complete daily and weekly Medleyfaire tasks to earn Summer Tokens, used to purchase unique skins, emotes, housing items, and consumables from event vendors.
