The all-female tactics RPG Empire of Angels IV launches on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch

empire of angels iv launch

We’ve never seen an Empire of Angels game present on consoles, and seeing as the series first came to light way back in 1993, that’s a bit of a shock. That all changes now though as eastasiasoft push out Empire of Angels IV to Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PS4, with a Nintendo Switch drop occurring 24 hours later, Empire of Angels IV is a tactics RPG affair that just so happens to come complete with an all-female cast.

Priced at £16.74, eastasiasoft are keen to point out that absolutely no prior knowledge is required for you to fall into the Empire of Angels world, and this fourth iteration should be as good a place to start your journey as any of the others. Which is a bit of luck really because as console exclusive players, this is our only hope.

This is however an updated edition of the original Empires of Angels IV, bringing with it 3D visuals, strategic turn-based combat and that all-female cast, with fully voiced characters delivered with English text support. It’s a game that focuses on deep fantasy-themed political intrigue, as the terror of war is balanced nicely by some light-hearted character interactions and humour.

In terms of narrative, story and lore, Empire of Angels IV is pretty rich. Our full review goes into full details for you – and we urge you to give that a read prior to dropping the cash on a purchase – but basically you find yourself joining the Namtar Investigation Team as they work their way through the Land of Asgard. The objective? To maintain order against a plague that is causing innocent folk to resort to violence.

Key features include:

  • Meet and enlist a large cast of female warriors.
  • Engage in turn-based tactical battles presented in lush 3D style!
  • Navigate the Land of Asgard with a detailed overworld map.
  • Customize your team with a variety of job classes.
  • Discover alternate narrative paths and endings based on your actions!

The trailer below gives a little more insight into how Empire of Angels IV plays out on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Give it a watch and then head to your favourite digital store for purchasing of the game. The Xbox Store is right here and will cover the bases required of those on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Let us know if you decide to pick it up.
