A New War For Holdfast Players
The tea may already be in Boston Harbour, but the fighting is only just beginning.
The American Revolution expansion transports Holdfast’s large-scale multiplayer action away from the Napoleonic era and into one of history’s most significant conflicts. Players can join either the British Crown forces or Washington’s Continental Army as they battle across newly added locations inspired by key moments of the war.
From defending strategic positions to storming enemy lines, the update retains the teamwork-focused gameplay that has helped Holdfast build such a passionate community over the years.
Success still depends heavily on coordination, maintaining formations and working alongside fellow soldiers, with stat bonuses awarded to those who fight together rather than charging headlong into battle alone.
New Modes, New Classes, New Tactics
The expansion doesn’t simply bring a fresh coat of historical paint.
Two major gameplay experiences arrive alongside the new setting. Invasion mode introduces amphibious assaults, creating entirely new battlefield dynamics as forces attempt to establish footholds from the water. Offensive mode also joins the roster, focusing on strategic point captures and territorial control.
To support these battles, players can choose from 15 unique classes, each offering distinct weapons, abilities and roles.
Whether leading troops as an Officer, building defensive positions as a Sapper, or causing havoc as a Grenadier, there are plenty of ways to contribute to the war effort.
The Madness Continues
What has always separated Holdfast from other military shooters is its personality. Massive 150-player battles, proximity voice chat and a community that often balances military precision with outright silliness have helped the game develop a reputation unlike anything else on the market.

Alongside the free expansion, Anvil Game Studios has introduced two new editions of the game.
The Patriot Edition (£31.99) celebrates the American Revolution content and includes additional extras for players looking to support the continued development of Holdfast.
Meanwhile, the Ultimate Edition (£63.99) bundles together Holdfast: Nations At War alongside every DLC released so far, complete with cosmetic unlocks, player card customisation options, soundtrack content and a huge collection of historical-themed packs spanning multiple conflicts and eras.
