Guilty Gear Strive Venom
Guilty Gear Strive – Venom is here!

Get ready for some tricky setups and elegant techniques as Venom drops in to the Guilty Gear -Strive- roster.

Venom, the fan-favourite Guilty Gear character known for his unique fighting style and, surprisingly, his love of baking, has joined the roster of Guilty Gear -Strive- as the latest DLC character.

Available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4/5, and PC, Venom brings his signature pool cue and ball-based attacks to the fast-paced, anime-inspired fighting game.

From Assassin to Baker: Venom’s Unique Playstyle

Priced at ÂŁ5.79, Venom is the second character to be added as part of Season Pass 4. His story in Strive sees him continuing his journey of redemption. After being left for dead in a battle with Bedman, Venom was saved by Robo-Ky and given ownership of a bakery by Zato.

Now, he leads a double life: baking bread by day and dispensing justice as the mysterious punisher Phantom by night. It’s a Guilty Gear story, so you know it’s going to be wild.

Venom’s gameplay revolves around setting up his billiard balls and using them to control space, create traps, and unleash devastating combos. He’s a character known for his tricky setups and his ability to keep opponents guessing. Expect a steep learning curve, but a high reward for those who master his unique mechanics.

Season Pass 4 Continues to Expand the Roster

Venom is just the latest addition to the ever-growing Guilty Gear -Strive- roster, which now boasts 30 characters. Season Pass 4 still has two more characters to come:

  • Unika: Spring 2025
  • Lucy: Summer 2025

Season Pass 4 also includes two new stages, coming in Spring and Summer 2025 respectively, along with additional colours. Queen Dizzy has already been added as part of the pass, joining back in October.

A Fighting Game That Keeps on Giving

We have been big fans of Guilty Gear -Strive- since its launch. We gave the base game a 4.5/5 in our review, praising its fast-paced action and deep combat system. We said: “All in all, there is a lot of content and a whole host of action on offer in Guilty Gear -Strive-. While the character roster is completely mental (and whoever came up with the Faust character has clearly spent too much time being Voldo in SoulCalibur 2), I haven’t been able to find a huge amount wrong with the game. The complexity is off putting at first, with so many options available both on the offense and defense (Roman cancel or Instant block, anyone?), but stick with it and while it never becomes easy, especially online, it does start to make sense. If you are looking for a fast and furious fighting game to play, may I suggest you have found it with Guilty Gear -Strive-?

The constant stream of DLC characters and updates has only added to the game’s longevity and appeal.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
