The AWE expansion brings a thrilling conclusion to Control

One of the very best games of 2019, Control is a must-player in many gamers’ eyes. And even though the team at Remedy have had a rocky few weeks with news surrounding the upcoming Control Ultimate Edition on Xbox Series X and PS5, it’s still a game that utterly wows throughout. Now though Control is expanding again, with the arrival of the AWEsome AWE expansion.

Building on what was delivered in the base game and then followed up with the super The Foundation expansion, AWE provides the thrilling conclusion to the whole experience, allowing Remedy the chance to put an end to one story, all whilst kicking off another.

It’s available right now for owners of Control on Xbox One, PS4 and PC to enjoy, with a price of £12.49 in place. Of course, if you previously got hold of The Foundation and ran the smart route of taking home the Season Pass, then you’ll discover AWE automagically taking pride of place.

But what exactly does AWE bring? Well, it’ll take us – and the Bureau Director Jesse Faden – to the Investigations Sector of the Oldest House, where the Federal Bureau of Control sets about examining the Altered World Events. These are happenings where paranatural forces breach our world with sometimes grave consequences and it is here where this expansion comes into play. Available following the completion of the seventh main mission (“The Face of the Enemy”) in the campaign, AWE will see players enter the Investigations Sector and confront the creature lurking within this long-abandoned part of the Bureau. It’ll be up to you and Jesse to fully explore the Altered World Events, including one specific one that covers the town of Bright Falls. It may just be here where Jesse learns more about the disappearance of one Alan Wake. Yep, THE Alan Wake.

“With AWE, we demonstrate Remedy’s unique way of telling stories that span across multiple games and experiences. It might be an end to one story, but it is also the beginning of something new, filled with potential and possibilities. We are really happy at having been able to bring players on Jesse’s journey and think players will be excited by what AWE offers” said Control’s Game Director, Mikael Kasurinen

Our full review of the AWE expansion for Control will be coming your way real soon, but chances are it’ll conclude the tale in the usual brilliant Remedy way. If you want to grab it for yourself and you have a copy of Control to hand, head to the Xbox Store – or your favoured one should you not love Xbox as much as us.

DLC Description:

AWE brings new story content and side missions as well as new weapons and mods to the world of Control. The Bureau studied its most dangerous Altered World Events in this lost sector. The records were sealed, the objects contained, and their powers abandoned. Now, the sector is breached and the objects are loose…
