The Blood of Dawnwalker
The Blood of Dawnwalker – first blood drawn

The pack at Rebel Wolves has drawn blood at the Xbox Games Showcase with a brand-new trailer for The Blood of Dawnwalker.

This is a debut dark fantasy action RPG from the new studio founded by veterans of CD Projekt RED. Published by Bandai Namco, the game is confirmed for a 2026 release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

This new trailer offers the first tantalising glimpse of pre-beta gameplay, but it’s just a taste of what’s to come. Rebel Wolves has also announced a special, extended gameplay reveal set to take place on the summer solstice, June 21st.

From the Creators of The Witcher 3

Before diving into what’s next, it’s impossible to ignore the pedigree behind this project. Rebel Wolves is a new studio (one we reported on back in 2022), but it was co-founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the Game Director on the legendary The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

This legacy of creating vast, mature, and celebrated RPGs sets an incredibly high bar of expectation for The Blood of Dawnwalker.

A Glimpse into the Darkness

The game is set in a grim, alternate 14th-century Europe. The continent is ravaged by war and the Black Death, creating a moment of weakness that a powerful clique of vampires seizes to rise from the shadows and claim power.

You play as Coen, a young man who becomes a “Dawnwalker” – a being no longer fully human, yet not entirely a vampire. He is a creature of two worlds, human by day and vampire by night. With just 30 days and 30 nights, you must choose whether to save Coen’s family or exact bloody revenge on his sire, all while wrestling with a growing thirst for blood and the central question: is it worth sacrificing your humanity for the ones you love?

The Longest Day, The Darkest Night: A Solstice Reveal

While the showcase trailer set the stage, the main event is yet to come. Rebel Wolves is inviting everyone to a special solstice livestream on June 21st at 9 PM CEST.

This 45-minute event will feature approximately 15 minutes of new gameplay, accompanied by extended developer commentary. The stream will shed more light on several key features, including the directional combat system that blends swordplay, spells, and vampiric powers. The developers will also demonstrate how the day/night cycle will have a significant impact on both gameplay and the story’s course as you navigate the world of Vale Sangora.

It’s been a pleasure to finally show you more of the game, and I want to thank our community for the incredible support. Back in January, when we first revealed the game, we promised to shed more light on the gameplay this summer—and that moment has finally arrived,” says Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, Game Director and Co-Founder of Rebel Wolves. “We’d like to invite you to join us on 21 June for our Gameplay Reveal Event. You’ll learn more about the abilities Coen gains as he becomes the Dawnwalker – a mysterious being balancing the line between the world of day and the realm of night.

This two-part reveal is a fantastic way to build anticipation for what is now one of the most exciting RPGs on the horizon. Watch the new trailer now, but be sure to mark your calendars for the even bigger reveal on June 21st.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
