We like free, especially when that free is attached to a major content update for a recent game. That’s exactly what we’re getting today with Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 as the free Butcher’s Banquet update provides access to a host of new features.
Rolling out as a free update to Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and PC right now is the Butcher’s Banquet expansion. This introduces an entirely new desert region, complete with side objectives and multiple targets that must be eliminated in the only way you – and Raven – know.
Having released back in June to considerable success – our full review is right here for you – Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2’s ominously titled Butcher’s Banquet is immediately available as a patch to the main game.
It features an all-new expansive region, as Butcher’s Banquet takes place in a stunning desert-like area, complete with luscious oases, dramatic waterfalls, and mysterious temples. Yet whilst it might look especially picturesque it’s certainly no holiday destination. You see, following the recent turmoil in Kuamar – the setting of SGW Contracts 2’s main campaign – new threats have been allowed to surface, the most dangerous of which is Mahmoud Zarza – aka ‘The Butcher’.
The new expansion builds on the elements that you probably loved about the base game, including the 1000m+ extreme-range sniping, next-gen graphics, more intelligent NPCs, and the most lethal array of weapons yet. Fire up Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 right now and you’ll get to see how this plays out for yourself.
If you haven’t yet played the game, or picked it up on Xbox One, optimised for Xbox Series X|S, PS4 or PC, the challenging sniper game is set in Kuamar, a lawless region of the Middle East, located along the Lebanese and Syrian borders. Players take on the role of Raven, Contract Sniper Assassin, and are tasked with toppling a brutal dictatorship by completing a series of replayable missions that can be approached in a number of ways. Contracts 2 features large-scale sandbox maps, a variety of side missions and objectives, realistic weapons and gadgets, and a range of unlockable skills and equipment. You’ll find it available on the usual digital stores like the Xbox Store.
There has been a ton of DLC released for the game since launch too and so if you are taken by the base game, or this free update, consider a purchase of one of those. As always let us know if this update is to your liking by dropping into the comments.
