Are you ready for a new story-driven survival horror experience? Whilst 2022 may seem some way away, you’ll want to put The Callisto Protocol on your radar – if only because this comes from those behind the Dead Space franchise.
Announced at The Game Awards for release in 2022 on PC and console – let’s expect that to mean Xbox Series X|S and PS5 at the very minimum – The Callisto Protocol comes from those behind the brilliant Dead Space, they at Striking Distance Studios and KRAFTON, Inc.
An all-new take on the genre, The Callisto Protocol will see us whisked off to a land unknown. Set on Jupiter’s moon Callisto in the year 2320, this will play out as a next-generation take on survival horror, with the game challenging players to escape the maximum security Black Iron Prison and uncover its terrifying secrets. Working in a blend of horror, action, and immersive storytelling, the game aims to set a new bar for horror in interactive entertainment.
“The Callisto Protocol is the culmination of decades of experience building AAA games,” said Glen Schofield, founder and CEO of Striking Distance Studios. “We’ve built a world class studio of passionate developers that is ready to once again tackle one of our all-time favorite genres—survival horror. We’re setting out to make one of the most terrifying games of all time, and we can’t wait to share more about The Callisto Protocol next year.”
The Callisto Protocol has been revealed with a rather lovely cinematic trailer in tow. Make sure you give it a watch and keep an eye on development process as the weeks and months move forward.
