Square Enix have just released a new update for The DioField Chronicle, and Version 1.20 adds in new missions, gear, skills and more.Â
Rolling out right about now on multiple platforms, the update is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam, packed with fresh new content including new missions, sub missions, gear, skills, and much more.
It allows players to dive deeper into the game’s gritty storyline and immerse themselves in a unique world that combines fantasy, medieval, and modern elements, as The DioField Chronicle delivers a “Real-Time Tactical Battle” system that provides a strategic and deep gameplay experience, where players and enemy troops move in real-time and the tide of battle can change in an instant. It’s something that works well too, as our review dropped a 4/5 score on it when we got hands-on back in October 2022.Â
In the latest update, players can learn more about Waltaquin Redditch, who was introduced in the main game. Assuming the role of Waltaquin, you’ll find access to five new main missions and two new sub missions. There’s a new map area called the Basement (Camp) to explore and a Mind Map system that allows players to probe Waltaquin’s choices.
To aid in the battles, Waltaquin has a new weapon type known as “Magic Tomes”. The Magic Tome brings Necromancy and Necrotiem skills that spawn Skeletal Knights into battle and transform units into Skeletal Dragons.
To further test your skills, you’ll also be able to take on the new and fearsome Behemoth boss, which is the most powerful enemy you would have faced to date. And if that isn’t enough and are on the lookout for added challenges, you can dive into the new Extra Mode as part of New Game+. It’s here where enemy levels and parameters, as well as enemy attack power, will be adjusted. And for those seeking the ultimate challenge, the new “Very Hard” difficulty will test their abilities in the main gameplay experience.
The DioField Chronicle’s latest update is available right about now at no additional cost for players who own the base game, whether that be on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch or PC. If you don’t have the base game, the usual digital stores will sort you out – we’ll point you to the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S play.Â
