Square Enix are on a bit of a roll. They’ve recently dropped the Worldslayer expansion to Outriders, are providing players the opportunity to get their powerwash on in PowerWash Simulator and are fast moving forward with the countdown to Star Ocean The Divine Force. But they’ve got many fingers in many pies, and come this September Square will be releasing an all-new strategy RPG to the world – The DioField Chronicle.

Square Enix have today confirmed that The DioField Chronicle, a strategy RPG that immerses players in an epic tale of war and honor with intense real-time tactical battles, will be releasing on September 22nd 2022, launching on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC in the process.

If the The DioField Chronicle sounds like it’s your bag, then you should consider that it is now available physically and digitally for pre-order on PlayStation consoles, Xbox consoles (through the Xbox Store) and Steam. Physical pre-orders for Nintendo Switch are also now available with digital pre-orders coming at a later date.

Further to that, if you fancy getting hands-on with The DioField Chronicle ahead of its release, a demo of the game will be found launching on August 10th, giving a tease of the beginning moments of the game. Save data from that demo will also be able to be carried over to the full game at launch.

But what is The DioField Chronicle? Well, drop in and players can experience a Real Time Tactical Battle (RTTB) – a new, deeply strategic, real-time battle system, which is further enhanced with a gritty and immersive storyline that is crafted by a skilled and experienced development team featuring unique character designs by Taiki (Lord of Vermilion III, IV), concept art by Isamu Kamikokuryo (FINAL FANTASY XII, FINAL FANTASY XIII) and beautifully orchestrated music by world-renowned composers Ramin Djawadi and Brandon Campbell, known best for their work on Game of Thrones.

It features a beautiful and unique world, blending fantasy with medieval and modern-day influences. Under the steady hand of the Shaytham dynasty, the Kingdom of Alletain on DioField Island has known peace for 200 years, but suddenly find themselves cast into an age of uncertainty due to the rise of warlike powers and modern magic. The Kingdom of Alletain is rich in the mineral Jade, prized for its use as a base ingredient in magic and sorcery, and the attention of both the Empire and the Alliance inevitably turns towards the island. Players will take control of a band of elite mercenaries calling themselves “Blue Fox,” but will the name “Blue Fox” come to signify hope or darkest tragedy.

If you go ahead and purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition, then you will receive in-game items for use from near the start of the main game, including the Knight’s Spear weapon and Mystical Ring accessory, as well as digital versions of The DioField Chronicle soundtrack and Digital Artbook. And better still, players who pre-order The DioField Chronicle Standard Edition or Digital Deluxe Edition can look forward to bonus content, including a Rhopasto Knife (in an exclusive color) and Recruit’s Bangle for use in the main game.

The Collector’s Edition Set is also available for pre-order exclusively at the Square Enix Store in limited quantities. This set comes with the standard edition game package and the Collector’s Goods Box, which contains The DioField Chronicle Board Game and a Four Pins Set.

We’ll be sure to remind you when The DioField Chronicle releases on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
