If turn-based strategy is your bag and deckbuilding is your thing, you’re going to want to join the brigade of the Floppy Knights.
Available today on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Game Pass (both of the Xbox and PC variety), Floppy Knights is a deckbuilding strategy affair that we pretty much love.
You can read our full review of how this one plays on Xbox, as it goes about delivering an Advance Wars vibe that is highly addictive. It’s that review which speaks highly of the Cartoon Network visual style, of the neat deckbuilding mechanics and of how well thought through the turn-based systems are. Admittedly it doesn’t do anything that is utterly new, but that’s not too much of a slight.
Created by the Rose City Games team and making the most of the power of Game Pass (of course, you could well just open the wallet and splash the cash if you wish), Floppy Knights makes a bit of a charge to Xbox and PC, treating players to the story of a young programmer, Phoebe. With her trusted robot friend alongside her, Phoebe heads to a science fair in hope of proving herself in the land of game creation.
It’s with this where the ‘floppy’ side of Floppy Knights comes about, as the mighty floppy disks (remember them!?) prove to be Phoebe’s ultimate test. From there, mixing, matching and gathering cards will give the player the chance to build the deck of their dreams, all as Phoebe looks to go toe-to-toe with all manner of foe.
Should you be an Advance Wars fan or love a bit of deckbuilding, Floppy Knights could well be seen as a bit of a dream game, with the whole experience pushed along by that lovely visual style.
“Floppy Knights is a wholesome adventure about becoming a hero when you least expect it,” said Marlowe Dobbe, Floppy Knights Creative Director. “We all experience ups and downs, and Phoebe’s story is an example of that–only much more magical and exciting!”
With Game Pass support behind it, dipping your toe into the battles of Floppy Knights could never be easier. Get yourself over to the Xbox Store right now and download Floppy Knights on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It’s on PC too, either via PC Game Pass or Steam.
Let us know what you think of it. If you really like it, the soundtrack is available for purchase for USD $7.99 and streaming via Bandcamp.
