Opus Castle 2
Opus Castle – back with new chapters

The unsettling tale inspired by a real-life Brazilian tragedy continues, as QUByte Interactive, in partnership with Messier Games, has released the subsequent chapters for their psychological horror game, Opus Castle.

Following the free-to-play introductory chapter, players can now delve deeper into the mystery by purchasing Chapters 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 individually for £1.69 each on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.

The Castelinho Mystery Deepens

Opus Castle draws its chilling premise from a real, unsolved tragedy that occurred on May 12, 1937, where an entire high-society family was found dead in the infamous Castelinho on Rua Apa, São Paulo, Brazil. This event sparked decades of rumours, conspiracies, and tales of hauntings.

These newly released chapters expand upon the free introductory experience, aiming to deepen the narrative by exploring parallel storylines and incorporating supernatural elements based on the real legends surrounding the Castelinho.

Players can expect to encounter unexplained phenomena like slamming doors, shadowy apparitions, and disembodied voices, all contributing to an atmospheric, first-person psychological horror experience. The game emphasises fragmented storytelling, where player choices directly impact the narrative’s course and lead to different endings.

Five New Chapters to Uncover

The story now extends significantly with the individual release of:

  • Chapter 2 – In the second chapter of this 3D horror, the player will be able to continue with the macabre story, finding several supernatural apparitions, in which they help him to unravel what really happened in the known tragedy. Noises from nowhere and the laments of spirits from the past, will continuously hunt you and your choices will define what variation of the story will be. Opus Castle it’s a 3D horror, adventure and mysterious game with a narrative based on the real tragic history of the little castle on Apa Street.
  • Chapter 3 – In Chapter 3 of Opus Castle, the mystery surrounding the tragic events at Apa Street deepens. Shadows grow thicker, and the line between reality and illusion begins to blur. As you venture through previously unseen areas of the castle, you’ll uncover disturbing memories hidden in its walls. Paranormal phenomena become increasingly intense, and each decision you make pulls you closer to one of the many story paths—will you find the truth, or be swallowed by the castle’s darkness?
  • Chapter 4 – Chapter 4 invites you into the heart of the castle’s darkest secrets. Time begins to warp, showing the past as if it were the present. Visions of those who lived—and died—there become unavoidable. The castle begins to reveal its own consciousness, reacting to your presence. Your investigation into the tragedy turns personal, and each ghost you meet has a story to tell—or a warning to give.
  • Chapter 5 – In Chapter 5, the weight of the truth begins to surface. The boundary between the living and the dead collapses, and the castle becomes a maze of emotions, memories, and danger. You are no longer just a visitor—you are a part of the story. With each step, you’re pushed to make choices that could unlock salvation or doom. Can you handle the consequences of your curiosity?
  • Chapter 6 – The final chapter of Opus Castle brings all storylines to their conclusion. In this haunting finale, all paths converge, and the castle forces you to face everything you’ve discovered—and everything you’ve done. The spirits are restless, and the truth is no longer just a mystery to solve, but a reckoning. The castle’s fate—and your own—rests in the decisions you’ve made. Will you escape, or become another whisper in its haunted halls?

Each of these chapters is priced at £1.69, allowing players to continue their investigation into the dark secrets of the castle.

Can Opus Castle Redeem Its Initial Promise?

When the original, free Chapter 1 of Opus Castle launched, we found its intriguing premise overshadowed by significant shortcomings. In our 2/5 review, we stated: “At the end of the day, Opus Castle is a glorified demo – and, in truth, not a very good one… It doesn’t successfully showcase the narrative, test the old grey matter with any real problems to solve, or provide enough scares to be deemed worthy of being a horror… Obviously, with Opus Castle being free, it may be worth a download to grab the Gamerscore on offer, but you won’t enjoy it and probably won’t return for further chapters.

The launch of these five new paid chapters presents an opportunity for Opus Castle to build upon its atmospheric setting and the chilling real-world inspiration. The question now is whether these expanded narratives and supernatural explorations can deliver the compelling and terrifying experience that the initial free offering struggled to achieve.

If you were intrigued by the mystery of the Castelinho despite the first chapter’s flaws, or are a fan of psychological horror based on real events, Chapters 2 through 6 of Opus Castle are available to purchase individually on the Xbox Store and other platforms now.
