The LoFi LoBlocks drops blocks onto Xbox

Whether you want to see it as a Tetris clone, or one which attempts to take the age-old ideas to new levels, LoBlocks arrives on Xbox to deliver some LoFi block dropping beats.

Available to purchase, download and play right now on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S (fully optimised for the new-gen consoles), is LoBlocks.

It comes from the Colossus Game Studio with a cheap price point in tow – a mere £4.19 and that is discounted at launch for a few weeks too.

First thoughts are that this is a straight up Tetris clone, one in which the player must drop some blocks through a gaming scenario. But look closer and this is different, although perhaps not for the better. It’s certainly not a game that could give Tetris Effect: Connected a run for its money, anyways.

Your task in LoBlocks is to destroy all blocks. Do so, and another level will be yours. You’ll go about this block destruction by colour matching, lining certain blocks up with others, removing lines as you go. So far, so Tetris, but the blocks here are much more simple affairs – it very much looks like you’ll be left with 1×2 blocks of varying colours, and not much else.

There are however no less than fifty levels included here, a couple of different game modes – Arcade and Classic – as well as that LoFi style, pixel-art visuals and some online rankings.

Aside from that, LoBlocks is seemingly low on content. But we’ll let you know if it has enough to warrant that low price point when we run review. Stick around for that in the coming days.

Key game features include:

  • – 50 challenging levels;
  • – 2 game modes (Arcade and classic with levels);
  • – Ranking online for arcade mode;
  • – Relaxing atmosphere;
  • – Authorial soundtrack in LoFi style;
  • – Pixel art;

For now, if you’re wanting to take a punt, fill your boots by hitting up the Xbox Store and grabbing a download of LoBlocks right now.

Game Description:

In LoBlocks, the player must destroy all blocks to go to the next level. But to do it, you should solve a lot of challenging puzzle matching colors and amount of blocks with the same color.

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
