The long-awaited, highly-anticipated Alan Wake 2 – release date and pre-orders open

We’ve long been holding out hope for Alan Wake 2, expressing our love for the original game many times over. Finally though, Alan Wake 2 is a thing – with full details, release date and gameplay trailer now out in the wild. 

What is Alan Wake 2?

From Remedy Entertainment and Epic Games, Alan Wake 2 has been confirmed for release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC through the Epic Games Store. If you’ve been living under a rock for more than a decade, this is the hugely anticipated sequel to the original Alan Wake. Of course, there’s Alan Wake’s American Nightmare from years back too.

Releasing on October 17th 2023, Alan Wake 2 will take full advantage of the power of the latest consoles and PC. Remedy Entertainment will utilise their Northlight engine to power things, as players join Alan Wake and his new co-protagonist, Saga Anderson, joining them together as one. 

Alan Wake 2 pushes players into a psychological horror story from the perspective of two playable characters. Saga Anderson risks her life to solve a deadly mystery of murders in the Pacific Northwest, Meanwhile, Alan Wake attempts to rewrite his reality to escape the depths of the Dark Place, a nightmare version of New York City.  

Saga Anderson (played by Melanie Liburd), is an accomplished FBI agent with a reputation for solving impossible cases. She arrives to investigate murders in the community of Bright Falls, as her case spirals into a nightmare. See, she discovers pages of a horror story that starts to come true and questions how it may be connected to that of missing writer Alan Wake. And we all know how his dark story plays out – it’s just this one mirrors hers too.

How and when can you play Alan Wake 2?

Alan Wake 2 will release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC come October 17th 2023. You won’t be able to play Alan Wake 2 on Xbox One or PlayStation 4.

Pre-orders have opened up for the Standard Edition of the game and the same is true for the Deluxe Edition. The Deluxe Edition of Alan Wake 2 adds in an Expansion Pass, some skins and more. You’ll find the Xbox Store capable of taking your money for both editions. And if you can’t wait, you could play Alan Wake Remastered.
