The modern point and click adventure that is Like No Other!

-

like no other launch

There may not be many point and click adventures that have really clicked like the classics, but that’s not stopping anyone from giving it a try, looking to relive the beauty of the classics. The latest to try just that is a modern-day adventure from Actoon Studio – this one promises to be Like No Other.

So much so in fact that Like No Other is front and centre, powering the journey along as the titular experience plays out. If you want to get all fancy about it and tackle it with the full name, then Like No Other: The Legend of the Twin Books points at what will unfold as you play through, but however you look at it, this is an adventure that may well appeal.

Like No Other focuses on Dan, a first time adventurer who is a little bit of a bumbling idiot. That’s not stopping him from heading off in hope of solving the riddles and legend of the twin books though, if only so Dan can sleep easy at night.

What plays from there is a family friendly quest, a single player experience that plays on those point and click moments. It mostly works too and even though this is a super short playthrough of just a couple of hours tops, as our review points to, it’s worth a shot.

It’s obviously super easy to pick up and play – point, click, point, click – with no worry of death or inconvenience of violence to hold you, or Dan, back. We’re not sure there could be a more friendly gaming experience.

The key features include:

  •  23 unique rooms to explore
  •  Easy-to-learn controls and accessible gameplay
  •  Lower skills required
  •  No death / violence
  •  No hyper-realism / last-gen graphics
  •  No procedural worlds

Like No Other is like no other – but that’s a good thing and so if you’re tempted by what it offers up, you’ll do well to check out the relevant digital stores. The Xbox Store will play host to the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S download for £13.49, whilst the Steam page is up and ready for those on PC. You’ll find this on Nintendo Switch too and no matter where you play, it’s a game that is fully dubbed for English and with subtitles for German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese and French.

Now go and see if this point and clicker really is like no other…

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
