Every Expedition Starts With Hope…
Before stepping into the cursed wilderness, your team gathers aboard a galleon to prepare for what’s ahead. Contracts determine your objectives, equipment must be divided between the group, and every decision could make the difference between returning wealthy or not returning at all.
The goal is straightforward enough – venture into the jungle, recover valuable treasures and uncover the legendary Mound said to contain unimaginable riches. Unfortunately, the jungle has other ideas.
Hostile creatures roam the landscape, ancient ruins hide long-forgotten secrets, and abandoned forts can become new launch points for future expeditions if you manage to recover the logbooks left behind by explorers who clearly weren’t as lucky as they hoped.
When Reality Begins to Slip Away
The headline you need to be concerning yourself with isn’t that of the monsters lurking in the undergrowth – it’s your own mind.
Inspired by the unsettling works of H.P. Lovecraft, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu introduces a madness system that gradually distorts your perception as each expedition unfolds. Visual hallucinations, misleading sounds and creeping paranoia blur the line between reality and illusion, leaving players constantly questioning what they’re seeing.
The result is a horror game where communication becomes just as important as survival.
With proximity voice chat keeping conversations grounded in the world itself, staying together is often the safest option. Wander too far from your companions and you may find yourself facing threats that nobody else can even see.
Teamwork Is Your Greatest Weapon
Although the jungle is filled with supernatural horrors, cooperation remains your strongest defence. Up to four players can tackle expeditions together, sharing limited resources and relying on period-appropriate weapons including bows, crossbows and primitive firearms to fend off whatever emerges from the darkness.
Death isn’t necessarily the end, either. Fallen explorers risk becoming corrupted, turning against the very teammates they were fighting alongside moments earlier – another twist that keeps every expedition unpredictable.
At launch, players can explore 18 handcrafted maps, each designed to deliver dense, oppressive environments packed with hidden dangers and opportunities for discovery.

Players can pick up The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu in either Standard or Deluxe Edition form.
The £34.99 Deluxe Edition includes the base game alongside the Temple of Yig Exclusive Mission Pack, two additional playable characters through the Fortune Hunters Characters Pack, plus the Abyssal Gear Pack, which adds exclusive cosmetic appearances for several weapons and equipment.
