Some houses have stories to tell. The Orphaned House looks set to make you work for every one of them. Charm Games has revealed its new first-person adventure, coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2027.
There are no armies to defeat or monsters to outrun here. Instead, players will explore a mysterious house, manipulate its surroundings and piece together its secrets through a series of tactile environmental puzzles.

A House Full Of Questions
The Orphaned House begins with a suitably mysterious premise. Players awaken inside the titular property with no memory, but with an overwhelming need to understand why they are there. The house itself becomes the centre of the experience. Every room, object and environmental detail could hold a clue, encouraging players to look beyond the obvious and investigate their surroundings rather than simply following a traditional objective marker.
Charm Games is putting its puzzles directly into the environment, with objects and spaces designed to be manipulated as part of the investigation. Rather than presenting a collection of disconnected brain teasers, those puzzles are intended to help reveal the story. What you discover, and how you interpret it, should gradually build a bigger picture of what has happened inside the house.
And while the setting may sound ominous, Charm Games isn’t describing The Orphaned House as a horror game. Instead, the studio is aiming for something closer to quiet suspense, with tension and mystery taking priority over jump scares.

Charm Games Moves Beyond VR
The Orphaned House also represents something of a new chapter for Charm Games. Having spent more than a decade creating VR experiences, the studio is bringing its focus to PC and consoles for its next adventure.
The game is being built in Unreal Engine 5, with the team promising the atmospheric visuals, handcrafted puzzles and immersive interaction that have become associated with its previous work.
For those wanting an early look, a playable demo is planned for later this year, ahead of the full release in 2027.

The Orphaned House isn’t trying to scare players into uncovering its secrets; it wants curiosity to do the work. With an enigmatic house to explore, environmental puzzles to solve and a story that promises to reward careful observation, Charm Games could have something particularly appealing for fans of atmospheric adventure games.
