When The Persistence made the move from the VR scene to full on console experience, we weren’t entirely sure how it would come across. But honestly, it did alright for itself, providing a gaming experience that was well worth persisting with. Now though it’s time for that same game to make the next step, jumping up to full-on next-gen gaming with an Enhanced edition for Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC.
We’ve known for a while that The Persistence would eventually make a move to next-gen, but now we finally have the all-important details and release date. Come June 4th 2021, gamers on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC will find access to The Persistence Enhanced – the next-gen version of the brutal survival horror.
Coming from Firesprite and dialling up the atmosphere and tension even more than previous, The Persistence Enhanced will once again deliver survival horror mechanics mixed with an innovative rogue-lite system. Placing you in the year 2521, onboard a doomed starship, you’ll be tasked with running the halls of The Persistence in order to repair the ship systems and prevent utter disaster from striking.
The Persistence Enhanced will do just as the old-gen version of the game managed, but will this time deliver improved lighting and particle effects, will add in a raytraced ‘Quality’ mode for Xbox Series X and PS5, and will included immersive haptic feedback for those utilising the power of DualSense.
If you’re on PC, then DXR implementation is also promised should you have a supported graphics card.
“We’re really excited to debut The Persistence on next-generation hardware, bringing improvements that intensify the immersive stealth horror for both existing players and newcomers alike.” said Graeme Ankers, Managing Director at Firesprite.
June 4th is the date you should be sticking in your diary as that is when The Persistence Enhanced rocks up as a standalone paid digital download on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC. If you already own The Persistence on Xbox One, PS4 or Steam, you’ll be able to upgrade for free. Further to that, a boxed PS5 edition will hit retail stores in Europe thanks to those at Perp Games.
We’ll be sure to let you know when that June date rolls into play. But let us know in the comments if you’ll be going deep with The Persistence once more.
