The streets of Averno City are getting a fresh coat of paint and a new lone wolf on the beat.
Kwalee and developer Fallen Tree Games have announced a new, free content update for their neon-noir action sandbox, The Precinct. The update will be available later this week for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
This latest patch introduces two highly requested features, giving players new ways to play and new styles to show off as they patrol the city.
A Welcome Update to a City We Love
We were huge fans of The Precinct when it launched last month, giving it a 4/5 score in our review. We praised it as being “pretty much all you would want from a game of this ilk,” and celebrated that “the feel and atmosphere of The Precinct is on point… this one will make you feel like you are the law.”
This new, free update is a fantastic addition to an already great experience, showing the developers’ continued support for the game and its community.
For those who haven’t yet dived in, The Precinct is a love letter to classic cop movies. You play as rookie beat cop Nick Cordell Jr., patrolling the streets of Averno City, responding to sandbox crimes, and solving the mystery of your father’s murder in the line of duty.
Hitting the Beat Solo
One of the headline additions in this new update is the introduction of Solo Mode. For the first time, players can choose to take on Averno’s criminal underworld without a partner riding shotgun. It’s just you, your patrol car, and a city full of crime.
This new mode offers a fresh challenge for seasoned officers who want to rely solely on their own skills to bring justice to the streets.
Style and Substance: New Customisation
Looking good while you’re cleaning up the town is just as important. This update brings a host of new customisation options for both your vehicle and your character.
- Cop Cars and Custom Fits – All six of the game’s squad cars now feature five slick new livery options. You can roll out in a design that matches your precinct’s official vibe, or you can flex your individuality with a custom look just for your ride.
- A New Look for Officer Cordell Jr. – The man himself, Officer Nick Cordell Jr., is also getting a stylish upgrade with a range of new customisation options. Players can now choose from 10 different outfits, eight unique hats, and four types of glasses to create a look that suits their own personal policing persona.
It’s time to shine up your badge and hit the rain-soaked streets once again. This new, free update for The Precinct offers players the perfect excuse to dive back into the neon-noir world of Averno City, with new ways to play and new styles to show off while you’re on patrol.
Look for the update to drop on Xbox later this week.
Of course, you’ll need to download the game first. Visit the Xbox Store if you like.
