The Precinct Ambulance Update rolls out on consoles and PC
The Precinct Ambulance Update – now available

Averno City is busier than ever, and The Precinct is making sure you feel every second of it with the new Ambulance Update.

The latest free update for the neon-noir police sandbox has now officially launched on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 today, following its earlier release on PC.

Developed by Fallen Tree Games and published by Kwalee, this update expands your duties beyond standard policing, introducing ambulance and coroner callouts, alongside new locations, collectibles and gameplay improvements.

And yes – things just got a whole lot more hectic on the streets.

Beyond The Badge – New Emergency Roles

Until now, life in The Precinct has largely revolved around enforcing the law; chasing suspects, responding to crimes and keeping Averno’s streets in check. This update changes that dynamic by expanding your responsibilities into emergency response.

You can now take control of an ambulance, responding to urgent medical situations across the city. It’s a different kind of pressure, focused less on confrontation and more on rapid response and saving lives.

On the other end of the spectrum, coroner duties bring a more sombre tone. With a dedicated vehicle and dispatches tied to fatalities, these missions highlight the consequences of crime in a way the game hasn’t explored before.

Supporting these additions are two new locations on West Island – a hospital and a morgue – alongside the ability to switch into appropriate outfits directly from your vehicle.

Expanding The Sandbox

Alongside the headline features, this update continues to refine the wider sandbox.

New narcotic stash collectibles unlock at Police Officer Rank 7, giving experienced players something fresh to pursue during patrols. At the same time, improved police AI means suspects are now more likely to be flushed out of hiding, making encounters feel more responsive and less predictable.

Averno Keeps Growing

If you’ve been keeping up with The Precinct, you’ll know this is just the latest in a line of meaningful updates. From K-9 units to tow truck mechanics, the game has steadily expanded its scope, adding more systems and responsibilities over time.

This new update arguably marks one of the biggest shifts yet, broadening the experience beyond traditional policing and into a more complete emergency services sandbox.

Still One Of The Most Atmospheric Sandboxes Around

Set in a rain-soaked, neon-lit vision of the 1980s, The Precinct continues to impress with its atmosphere and variety.

In our review, we said: “The Precinct is pretty much all you would want… the feel and atmosphere is on point.”

That hasn’t changed. If anything, the addition of ambulance sirens and new callouts only deepens the immersion.

More Than Just A Cop Game Now

With today’s console launch of the update, The Precinct takes another step forward in its evolution.

It’s no longer just about enforcing the law, The Precinct is about managing the full spectrum of life (and death) across Averno City. Whether you’re chasing down criminals, saving civilians or dealing with the aftermath, every shift now tells a broader story.

And as always in Averno… there’s no shortage of work to be done.
