the sorrowvirus a faceless short story

Barely a week goes by when the Eastasiasoft team don’t push out something new to the console market. This week’s launch is that of The Sorrowvirus – A Faceless Short Story, as it begins to unfold and play out on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

Available to purchase and download today (you’re looking at £12.49 from the Xbox Store, and roughly that same price on other formats), The Sorrowvirus – A Faceless Short Story is the latest Eastasiasoft title to hit the market. Created by a combination of Eastasiasoft (Ayo the Clown, Z-Warp) and Adam Sklar, this first person, narrative-led puzzling affair has you joining the life of Wyatt Heyll, a man who has been hit be a multitude of issues.

What plays out from there is a tale that covers how Wyatt falls into Purgatory, stuck between life and death as they look to heal. The thing is, returning to the real world sees Wyatt’s illnesses return – quicker and more deadly than ever before.

It’ll be up to you to help Wyatt overcome the issues at hand, navigating him through the torment, solving puzzles and uncovering clues to his tale as you go. What unfolds concludes in no less than four endings, with just the one taking you down the true path.

Working the cycle of life and death, The Sorrowvirus – A Faceless Short Story key features sit as follows…

  • Explore the circumstances of a young man’s endless cycle of death.
  • Discover changes in dialogue and difficulty as the game remembers previous runs.
  • Navigate highly detailed environments in a first-person perspective!
  • Solve challenging puzzles to find the answers you seek.
  • Immerse yourself with a hauntingly atmospheric soundtrack.
  • Release Wyatt from his torment by finding the one true path forward!

We’re currently working on a full review of The Sorrowvirus – A Faceless Short Story on Xbox Series X|S. Be sure to keep an eye out for that very soon.

If you wish to pick it up for yourself though, you’ll find the download of The Sorrowvirus – A Faceless Short Story you need over at the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S; with the latter consoles providing you with full next-gen optimisation. Xbox Smart Delivery is in tow too.

You’ll also find The Sorrowvirus – A Faceless Short Story on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

Game Description:

Set a young man’s soul free from the torment of endlessly repeating death! Follow the journey of Wyatt Heyll, a young man stricken with a multitude of ailments from an early age. On the verge of death, Wyatt’s parents administer a paranormal substance known as the Sorrowvirus, which contaminates the human soul and prevents it from passing on to the afterlife. This causes a subject to fall into Purgatory instead, where they can heal and return to life. However, every time Wyatt comes back, his cancers and illnesses return more quickly than before. Wyatt’s parents allow him to continue dying over and over while they perform research on organic particles found in Purgatory that may cure him once and for all. Having died so many times, Wyatt simply wants to let go. Your objective is to set Wyatt free from his everlasting torment. Navigate haunting environments in first person, solving puzzles and discovering clues to unravel Wyatt’s tragic tale. With four endings in sight, only one is the true path.
