petit adventure

In a world where we’re not getting regular Micro Machines games, we can take solace that games like Petite Adventure exist. Yes, Petite is a translation of Micro: they know what they’re doing.

Published by Ratalaika Games and developed by the suitably named Petite Games, this is a more challenge-based take on the Micro Machines perspective and formula. Instead of racing your cars against others, this is a single-player approach (a bold decision that), where you are offered 32 different challenges to complete.

Those challenges might include popping balloons, collecting coins or whacking an opponent with a giant hammer. Complete it before the time elapses and you will be able to move onto the next objective, and so on. We can assume, considering this is a Ratalaika title with a short playtime, that it will be erupting achievements like Mentos tossed into coke.

There are a range of vehicles to grab the wheel of, including police cars, school buses, limos and what looks suspiciously like the Ecto 1 from Ghostbusters. Who you gonna call? Hopefully not the lawyers.

While it might look pint-sized, we’re quite taken with the colourful and chunky art style, the old-school rocking on the soundtrack, and the inventive take on challenges. From the trailer, we can spot some golf, as well as challenges where a laser is strapped to the top of the car. We didn’t get to do any of that in our SEGA Megadrive versions of Micro Machines.

In all, the features include:

  • Cute tiny cars
  • 32 Levels
  • Different mechanics (drift, pop balloons, play golf, and more)
  • 3D cute graphics

If you’re taken with Petite Adventure, then know it’s out for a multitude of systems. You can buy it Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch

Petite Adventure is £4.99 from the Xbox Store, with a reduction to £3.99 for launch. Expect a review once we stop reminiscing about Micro Machines and 8-players on one cart at a time.

Game Description:

In Petite Adventure you drive tiny cars around a house and complete challenging objectives. Do a 360 drift, pop balloons, play golf, collect coins, and explore each level. Petite Adventure features 32 different challenges to play organized based on difficulty. Control a wide variety of miniature automobiles including cars and trucks, master the art of driving in tight household spaces, and don’t fall off the edge!
