Love what was originally delivered via the Left 4 Dead franchise? Been itching for more? Back 4 Blood is here to scratch that itch, providing gamers on Xbox, PlayStation and PC the chance to take in some thrilling cooperative shooting action.

Created by those originally behind Left 4 Dead, Turtle Rock Studios and Warner Bros Games have come together to deliver a gaming experience that many have been calling for. It puts you into the role of a Cleaner as you are left to, well, clean the world of the Ridden. These guys are those which were once human, now taken over by a deadly parasite that is intent on nothing but utter domination. They do that by devouring anything that comes in their way.

Playable solo, Back 4 Blood should well come together during the cooperative options, where you and up to 3 friends head into battle, working your way through various mission types and through a story campaign which should well be utterly deep. There are a range of different Cleaners to play as too, each which a range of weaponry, items and abilities.

But there are some more ideas going on in Back 4 Blood, with players able to go up against others in PvP and to make the most of a new roguelite card system which will ensure every time you play it delivers an altogether different experience.

There’s a lot going on in Back 4 Blood and our full review of the game will be able to steer you through the intricacies that you need to know. Stay tuned for that very soon. Or take in the key feature set…

  • Cooperative Campaign – Fight your way through a dynamic, perilous world in a 4-player co-op story campaign where you must work together to survive increasingly challenging missions. Play with up to 3 of your friends online or go solo and lead your team in battle. Choose from 8 customizable Cleaners, one of the immune survivors, and a range of lethal weapons and items. Strategize against an ever-evolving enemy bent on your total destruction.
  • Competitive Multiplayer – Play with or against friends in PVP. Switch between playing as a Cleaner with special perks and the horrific Ridden. Both sides come with unique weapons, abilities, and specialties.
  • Extreme Replayability – A new “rogue-lite” Card System creates different experiences each and every time, putting you in control to craft custom decks, roll different builds and undertake more demanding fights. The Game Director is constantly adjusting to player actions, ensuring exciting fights, extreme gameplay diversity, and tougher legions of Ridden – including mutated boss types up to 20 feet tall.

If you wish to grab Back 4 Blood for yourself, you’ll find the game available in both Deluxe and Ultimate Editions for £89.99 and £99.99 respectively. They give access ahead of the Standard Edition on October 12th, with the Deluxe Edition adding in the Annual Pass whilst the Ultimate Edition also includes some weapon skins and extra digital content.

The thing is, you can go and pay up now, gaining access as you will, or you can hold tight till the Standard Edition, making the most of the Xbox Game Pass love that will come with too. If you’re unsure whether or not Back 4 Blood is going to be for you, that’s probably the route to take.
