Having been sat in Early Access on PC and Steam for the best part of two years, it’s time to break free from those shackles to release in full, taking players on Xbox, PlayStation and PC to the medieval battlefields in hope of proving themselves as the Bannerlord in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S (fully optimised), PS4, PS5 and PC, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord will set you back £39.99 of your modern day cash, before whisking you off to a world from times gone by, hoping to carve out your own kingdom.

Sold as an epic adventure of huge proportions, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord from TaleWorlds Entertainment is hotly anticipated, especially as it has picked up some serious acclaim in those years of Early Access on Steam.

If you’re one of those who have been holding out for this, then expect realism, the thrills of some hotly fought medieval combat, a whole smattering of strategy and the complexities it brings all as you work your way through the vast sandbox world of Calradia.

Yep, it’s that world of Calradia which is the home for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord as you attempt to steer the land to victory, working your way up from a lowly warrior to become an all-powerful, all-conquering warlord. How you go about that is up to you – you can work the merchant angle, that of an adventurer, a noble lord or a promising hero.

Of course, it could go wrong and you could side the other way, playing through life as a tyrant or villain as the empire slowly falls apart.

The Mount & Blade franchise as a whole is one that is steeped in history, one of the most influential games of the genre. There are seriously high hopes for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord to continue those glories.

You’ll find Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord on the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It’s also on PS4, PS5 and PC.

Keep an eye out for our review.

Game Description:

The horns sound, the ravens gather. An empire is torn by civil war. Beyond its borders, new kingdoms rise. Gird on your sword, don your armour, summon your followers and ride forth to win glory on the battlefields of Calradia. Set forth on an epic adventure in a fictional Dark Ages sandbox that combines strategy and action-RPG gameplay. Create and develop your own character, gather companions, and use diplomacy, trade, and roguery to your advantage as you attempt to establish your clan among the ranks of the nobility. Raise armies to command and fight alongside in huge, real-time battles and sieges using an extensive command system, and an intuitive, skill-based directional combat system. Carve out your own kingdom or champion another’s cause as you explore the vast, reimagined continent of Calradia in this prequel to the critically acclaimed, Mount & Blade: Warband.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
