The utterly weird Cosmic Top Secret gives up the secrets on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch

Just one glance at Cosmic Top Secret pretty much gives you all you need to know. It’s weird. It’s unique. It’s on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. Are you ready to try and understand what makes it tick?

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch, Cosmic Top Secret is an autobiographical game that needed official military clearance of its content in order to be released. Yep, edgy stuff.

Running a price of £8.39, it’s a game that was originally created by those at Klassefilm and Those Eyes, with the Nakana.io team (they behind Journey of the Broken Circle) picking it up for publishing rights. It’s also proven to be a bit of a winner, picking up awards at A MAZE and Indiecade as it now looks to try and push a story-driven adventure, whilst mixing it with educational needs and autobiographical elements.

So what do we have? Well, it’s best described (and thankfully Nakana are doing just that) as a hybrid of reality and fantasy, all told through an abstract papercraft world. It follows the life and times of T as she looks to discover more about her parent’s involvement with the Danish Intelligence Service.

Throwing you into a Cold War era, you’ll be left to flick, roll and glide your way across no less than six wonderfully distinct stages, picking up clues, uncovering secrets (you know, military secrets, no doubt!) and collecting no less than 400 of the very finest collectibles in the process.

There are a whole range of characters to meet and greet too, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark being just the one, as this ‘Docu-Game’ looks to cover the gap in between gaming, and documentaries.

It’s certainly not just us who think this whole world is a little strange, but it also looks to be utterly delightful, with a weird, unique take on what is played out. Our full review of Cosmic Top Secret is will be able to let you know how this actually plays out – give it a little peruse right now.

If you’re sold – either by our review, by the idea, by the visuals, or just, well, because you fancy something a little different – you can grab Cosmic Top Secret from the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, the PlayStation Store for PS4 and PS5 or the Nintendo eShop for those preferring Switch.

Let us know what you think of it all too. The comments are below.

Game Description:

EXPERIENCE SOMETHING UNIQUE “Cosmic Top Secret” is the weird, but official, term NATO uses for top confidentiality. A fitting name for this game since it needed military clearance to be released! Cosmic Top Secret won multiple awards for the innovative ways it engages players in deeply documented plots. The game even inspired the creation of a life-size event at the Cold War Museum of Denmark.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
