From Kite Games and THQ Nordic, The Valiant has been announced for release on Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
The Valiant is a new action-RTS affair, one that combines RPG elements along with fresh new ideas that are sure to appeal to players no matter whether they are on Xbox, PlayStation or PC. It focuses on tactical combat with small forces, as players encounter a sweeping, story-driven campaign where each mission’s challenge is unique. It’s the decisions which you make both on and off the battlefield which will count, as players select their forces carefully for each mission, as well as decide the skills and equipment given to each hero.
It’ll provide no less than three unique skill trees per hero, and there will be plenty of options to explore when finding the playstyle that fits best. Valiant will be sold as a game that deals in fast-paced, melee-centric combat, and it’s this which will give new challenges to even the most veteran RTS player
“Thou shalt champion the forces of Justice and Prevail against Evil” is the 10th commandment of chivalry – and what drives Theoderich von Akenburg, the hero of our story. One of his former brothers-in-arms, Ulrich, has become obsessed with re-uniting Aaron’s rod, an ancient and mysterious relic, and is on a reckless crusade through Europe and the Holy Land to find the missing pieces. If Ulrich succeeds, the world will face grave consequences. Theoderich had vowed to never take up arms again, but chivalry forces him to embark on the holy quest to stop Ulrich, gathering new loyal companions along the way.
There’s more than just a solo experience here though and The Valiant also offers two different multiplayer modes: competitive and cooperative. The game’s campaign is designed as a single-player experience, but three friends can enjoy the Last Man Standing mode together and hold their ground against waves of enemies, including mini-bosses and bosses. Success will be rewarded with experience to level up the selected hero, granting new skills and better stats for future challenges.
The PVP mode meanwhile offers 1vs1 or 2v2 scenarios that consist of swift and thrilling clashes as players capture control points and build up their forces. As players earn more victories, they’ll be able to unlock a wide range of visual customization that can be leveraged throughout the game experience.
The key game features include:
- Squad-based RTS with a range of units, from tanky swordsmen to quick cavalry
- Select hero-squads and auxiliary squads across 15 exciting, hand-crafted Single Player missions, each with custom cinematics, narrated journals, difficulty levels, and more
- Six Hero Squads each with 3 different skill trees provide players with unique passive and active skills to choose from while leveling up their heroes
- Large array of weapons and armors to loot and equip throughout the campaign, each with their own stats and special skill options
- Combine hero skills and weapons/equipment for a huge selection of hero builds
- Play cooperative with friends in the 3-player “Last Man Standing” mode, where you face hordes of enemies and earn experience to level up your knights and unlock new skills and cosmetics
- Play competitively in multiple PVP game modes that support 1v1 and 2v2, with cosmetic meta-progression and special rewards for ranked play.
