Ever find yourself thinking that you should have been in an RPG tactics game club back in high school? Well, unfortunately, time travel is yet to be perfected. However, fortunately, Wintermoor Tactics Club launches on the Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

Coming from the developing team at EVC, this strategic RPG will have you join the gang of outcasts that form the Wintermoor Tactics Club. The club members find their after school pastime in danger of being eliminated by their school principal unless they can win a snowball tournament. Clearly psychotic, fun-hating principal aside, it becomes your quest to help these kids become heroes in more than just their tabletop campaigns.

Wintermoor Tactics Club is aiming to scratch your strategy itch through tactical, turn-based combat. You must use your characters and their abilities to outsmart the plans of your enemies. Those enemies come in the form of the other clubs at the school, and you will have to defeat them in order to keep your club afloat. Of course, you could also befriend some of them and maybe even persuade them to join your group. With up to seven different playable characters, it is up to you to ensure that you make friends with the right people.

When you are not battling and unlocking upgrades, you will be advancing through the story by exploring the school of Wintermoor. Through visual novel-esque cutscenes between characters, you will learn more about the students of Wintermoor and the mystery that haunts the halls. Each one of these cutscenes, and said haunted halls, are all brought to life through the game’s lovely art style. Not only that, but there will be a swath of interesting characters to speak to and learn more about as you continue to build the membership of your club. Fans of traditional visual novels will definitely want to look into this game.

“Bringing great player experiences to new audiences has always been our passion as a publisher, so I’m thrilled that we’re helping to bring such a well-received and heartfelt RPG like Wintermoor Tactics Club to console”. Said Steve Escalante, Versus Evil General Manager.”Titles like this are rare indie gems, they deal with the complexities we face in our daily lives and wrap it into a beautifully told, cozy RPG we can all embrace.” He added.

Features include:

  • • Unlock your Potential: Discover the power of 7 playable characters and dozens of unlockable upgrades across more than 40 battles.
  • • Explore the School: Get to know Wintermoor in visual novel-inspired gameplay. Break down the walls between high school cliques such as the Psychic Detectives and Young Monarchists.
  • • Make New Friends: Write tabletop campaigns to help students overcome their personal problems, and discover their fantasy selves as your club grows.

If joining a lovable, ragtag group of students and participating in some strategized action sounds like a good time to you, then giving the game a go will run you £16.74 on the Xbox Store.
