It may be popping up at totally the wrong time of year and being spooked might just be the furthest thing from your mind as we speak, but if you’re looking for a Spooky Chase on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and PS4, you’ve found it. Personally we’re more looking forward to bunnies and chocolate, but each to their own.

Created by the wonderfully titled Burning Goat Studio – yeah we’re not sure why either – and pushed out to mass market by the QUByte Interactive team (they previously having dealt with the ‘chess-but-not-chess’ Knight’s Retreat), Spooky Chase certainly offers up something a little different.

It runs with a price point of ÂŁ4.19 and is sold as being the Ultimate Halloween Challenge. Again, we’re not really sure why it’s launching on Xbox, PS4 and Nintendo Switch right now, especially seeing as it found a home on Steam back in the spooky hour of 2020, but we’ll take any game we can get our grubby mitts on, especially when it promises so much.

But what does Spooky Chase promise? Well, other than that ultimate Halloween challenge, a bit more of the usual fare we think, just with some mechanics that switch things up a bit.

You see in Spooky Chase you are your own worst enemy as every step you take, every movement you break, someone will be watching you (yep, sorry). That someone would be the monsters, happily replicating every movement you do in the hope that they can get near and put you off of your task of collecting flags. The problem is, the more flags you nab, the more monsters appear.

One watch of the trailer from the original Steam launch will confirm all the madness that Spooky Chase fast devolves into, yet with a fun little artstyle, some proper old-school tunes and classic platforming elements, it should be one to watch. Our full review of Spooky Chase on Xbox will be heading towards your eyes in the days ahead so keep a watch out for it.

If you’re sold already then head to the digital store of your choosing. We prefer the Xbox Store but if you wish to enjoy this Spooky Chase on PS4, Nintendo Switch or even PC, you can.

Game Description:

The Ultimate Halloween Challenge: Spooky Chase is without a doubt a challenging experience. The every year we play scary games for the Halloween season. Running away from monsters, zombies, ghosts, and the list goes on. This time, you gonna run away from your own past. Watch out for every step you made and DON’T GIVE UP. If it has some one who can defeat you, it is YOU. Your Adventure: You are your enemy! In Spooky Chase, every movement you made towards the flag is recorded and then replicated by the monsters. For more flags you collect, more enemies will show on the map!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
