This Week’s Game Pass Update Is Seriously Stacked

2026's Best Games

Game Pass changes come about as March ends and April begins

It’s one of those weeks where Game Pass really shows its range with a number of new games landing on the subscription service. From the biting cold of survival sims to the claustrophobic dread of horror, and even a splash of colourful open-world exploration, the latest wave of additions brings something for just about every mood.

As March comes to a close and April springs into view, the new Game Pass arrivals are always the headline grabbers. But there’s also a small shuffle on the way out, meaning now’s the time to prioritise what stays installed and what gets one last playthrough.

At A Glance

  • New Additions
    • The Long Dark (March 30th)
    • Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (March 31st)
    • Barbie Horse Trails (April 2nd)
    • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (April 2nd)
  • Leaving March 31st
    • Peppa Pig World Adventures
    • Mad Streets

Into The Cold With The Long Dark

Few survival games strip things back quite like The Long Dark. Dropping players into a frozen wilderness with little more than their instincts, it’s a game that thrives on isolation and careful decision-making.

There are no zombies here, no over-the-top threats. It’s just you, the environment, and the constant battle to stay alive. Whether you’re scavenging for supplies, managing your condition, or simply trying to keep warm through the night, every moment feels earned.

When we reviewed it, we said: “I would highly recommend giving The Long Dark a go, especially if you’re after something different and love the idea of a survival sim with an interesting story. There are three modes here – the story, survival mode where you can lose weeks trying to make your own stories, and challenge mode for the hardest Bear Grylls amongst you.”

Available across Cloud, Console and PC, it’s the perfect slow-burn experience to sink into.

Resident Evil 7 Brings The Horror Back

If survival in the wilderness isn’t quite stressful enough, CAPCOM‘s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard arrives to remind you what real fear feels like.

This was the entry that reshaped the series, shifting perspective and delivering a far more intimate, unsettling experience. Set within the decaying Baker family home, it’s a masterclass in tension, atmosphere and outright dread.

As we put it in our review of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard:

Overall and whilst many will complain at yet another radical shake up for the series, those that value Resident Evil for its horror value will be more than happy with the route Capcom have taken this time round. The changes have been a long time coming, but the final result may well have given us one of the best horror titles we are likely to see this year…finally bringing the horror back to Resident Evil.

Playable via Cloud, Console and PC, this is one you don’t skip – especially if you’ve somehow missed it.

A Lighter Ride With Barbie Horse Trails

Balancing out the darker tones is Barbie Horse Trails, landing on April 2nd.

This one leans into a more relaxed, open-world adventure, letting players explore Canterbury Trails Park alongside their horse, Lucky. Expect side quests, collectibles, customisation and a more laid-back pace compared to the week’s heavier hitters.

It’s also one of the more flexible additions, playable across Cloud, Console, Handheld and PC, making it an easy pick for a more casual session.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is A Must-Play

Arguably the standout addition this week is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, joining Game Pass Premium while already available on Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

This is a bold, stylish RPG that blends turn-based combat with real-time mechanics, all wrapped in a beautifully realised world inspired by Belle Époque France. It’s emotional, inventive and visually striking in ways that immediately set it apart. You’ll no doubt have heard about the fuss around this one.

Keplar Interactive nailed things. And yes, we were big fans: “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a stunning game. It is emotional, beautiful and utterly captivating. And that all means it is an absolute no-brainer as to whether you should be playing.

Available across Xbox Series X|S, Cloud, Handheld and PC, this is one of those additions that feels like an essential download.

Saying Goodbye To A Couple Of Titles

As always, a few games are making their exit. Leaving on March 31 are…

  • Peppa Pig World Adventures – 3/5 score – ‘There’s a lot to explore in Peppa Pig: World Adventures, and while the game feels paradoxically more constrained as it goes global, it’s also an experience that had our four-year old jumping up and down on the sofa, singing that flipping theme tune all day.
  • Mad Streets – 2/5 score – ‘There just isn’t that much to Mad Streets. You’ve seen everything it has to offer within the space of an hour. Playing with friends and laughing for a bit at the idea of “haha! That character fell down funny!” gets old insanely fast, and it does so even quicker when playing alone.

If they’ve been sitting in your backlog, now’s the time to squeeze in a final session before they rotate out.

Another Strong Week For Game Pass?

What stands out this week isn’t just the number of additions, it’s the variety. Few services can jump from harsh survival to psychological horror, then pivot into cosy exploration and finish with a standout RPG.

That’s the strength of Game Pass in a nutshell. There’s always something new to discover, whether you’re chasing your next obsession or just looking for something different to try. And with more announcements expected soon, this might just be the warm-up.

We’ll update this piece as full confirmation of further new games for Game Pass drop.
