Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Pro League is set to stay until at least 2020

-

With online multiplayer going from strength to strength, it’s not surprising to see more and more multiplayer focused releases, but every now and then a multiplayer game comes along that really kicks up a buzz within the gaming community and proves itself as a mainstay amongst players. GTA V is a great example of this, but for fans of the FPS variety, one game that continues to flourish is none other than Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.

With a loyal player base that still continues to thrive despite the game initially launching in 2015, and an eSports Pro League that grows in popularity each year, it’s hardly surprising to hear of Ubisoft’s announcement that the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Pro League will be renewed for 2018-2020.

The Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Pro League is a worldwide competition that’s available to enter at all levels from amateur to professional, and after two successful years a newly designed structure will be kicking off in June 2018.

The Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Pro League will consist of two Seasons that will be six months long each and run from June to November and December to May. Each will be finalised by a concluding Season Finales, in which the eight best teams – with two pulled from each region – will compete for the $275,000 prize.

The transitional period for the new Seasonal layout will take place between March 2018 to May 2018 and will be the seventh Pro League Season for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. The finale of the seventh Season will take place in the United States mid-May 2018.

The following is a scheduled summary of dates for the upcoming Pro League Seasons:

  • Pro League Season 7 (transition season): March – May 2018
  • Pro League Season 8: June – November 2018
  • Pro League Season 9: December 2018 – May 2019

Meanwhile The Challenger League will now have two, three-month seasons each year starting in September and March and will also transition into a Seasonal format.

In what is likely to be the most exciting news however for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Pro League enthusiasts, there will now also be two Majors taking place each year. These events will be where you can expect to find the most intense Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege action, with a Six Major tournament set to take place each year along with the Six Invitational which takes place each February.

Both will grant the winners a rather enviable prize pool of $350,000 dollars for the Six Invitational winners, and $500,000 for the Six Major tournament winners. These events will both comprise of the 16 qualifying teams from all over the world.

Before pitting your skills against the best in the Pro League however, players can hone their skills in the Weekly Online Tournaments that take place on platforms such as Go4s every Sunday, whilst there will be a large number of community cups and local ladders available and competitions available throughout the year, including the UK ESL Premiership. Details on the complete calendar will be shared soon.
