Originally released in 2008 on Xbox 360 and PS2 the following year, Underworld sees the iconic adventurer Lara Croft exploring and finding artifacts across the world – from Croft Manor to Mexico all the way up to the Norwegian volcanic Jan Mayen Island, all with visuals demonstrating the latest graphical technology – at least the latest from a few years back. Lara will be equipped with some powerful weapons such as the tranquilizer gun, speargun and sticky grenades, utilising a dual-target feature to do your shooting with. At some points you even will be wielding the legendary Norse weapon, Mjolnir!
Underworld gets you to rack your brains in order to solve the various puzzles you will encounter on your adventure, taking your bike for a ride across Southern Mexico and the Jan Mayen Island, and sometimes using it for finding solutions to puzzles. With a variety of acrobatic moves at her disposal, you can ensure that by the end of Tomb Raider: Underworld you will have the mind of a ninja, grappling and chimney jumping all over the place.
The rebooted Tomb Raider may now be the last word in Ms. Croft’s adventures, but if you haven’t previously played Underworld, and are looking for a free game to kick the year off, then this will have to do.
