The Top 5 moments from Bethesda at E3 2017

-

The guys and girls at Bethesda have always been big hitters at E3, with huge announcements delivered from their locker each and every year. Who can forget the first time we saw the dragon attack in Skyrim, or the announcement that Fallout 4 was true and it was being released in three months time?

So how did they fare at E3 2017? Here are my top five highlights.

Wolfenstein: The New Colossus

Now that’s how you do a trailer.

Brilliantly deceptive and intriguing with the promise of superb action, great acting, history altering stories and big dog robots.

The first Wolfenstein reboot proved a huge success within the gaming community and now we will soon be given the chance to enter back into this magnificent world once more.

Expect amazing set pieces, more characters that you love to hate and more good old fashioned gore. I love this franchise and can hardly wait to visit it again on October 27th.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider

I finally finished Dishonored 2 about a month ago. I know, I’m very slow, but I didn’t want it to end.

So the chance to enter back into this world and play a different adventure there, really excites me.

You play as Billie a new character to the franchise, and it looks like you are actually after the mysterious Dark Outsider from the previous two games. This is a stand-alone game and it will be with us very soon – on the 15th September 2017 in fact.

What we don’t know is whether this is a full game like Dishonored 2, or the size of a piece of DLC. Only time will tell, but already I’m getting my stealth boots on and sharpening my assassin’s knife in readiness.

The Evil Within 2

Now I want to be honest with you here. I couldn’t finish The Evil Within. I found it too tricky for my tiny mind and the control system too cumbersome to control.

I loved the world it created though, as well as the tone, atmosphere and of course the horror – what with it being right up there with some of the very best scare moments you will come across.

The trailer for The Evil Within 2 therefore made me want to delve into this world one more time, if only so I can see if I can finally handle the terror. It’s released on October 13th and I am excited, scared, excited, scared, then a bit excited.

You get the idea.

Two DLC packs for The Elder Scrolls Online

This is another game that is tempting me back into the fold, especially with the most recent Morrowind DLC that arrived. Now though, there are two more snippets on offer.

First up, in August, we have Horns of the Reach, which will add two new dungeons – Falkreath Hold and Bloodroot Forge – as well as new items and achievements. The other pack – Clockwork City – will be released later on in the year, and, should previous add-ons be any barometer, is sure to be something to behold.

The content for The Elder Scrolls Online has been pouring in and shows no signs of stopping. In fact, it might just be enough to keep us full until they release the next Skyrim. Please, god, do it!

Doom VR and Fallout VR

Even though Xbox are not thinking about focusing on VR this year, the idea of playing these two games on any format is making my mouth water.

Doom might be frightening and gut wrenching… but what fun you could have if they get this right. Fallout 4 is a game that is made for VR with it’s wonderful deep world, exploration and combat. Hopefully we might get to see some more of this next year and a bit more info about VR.

So, it was a good turnout for Bethesda with some fan favourites coming into the line up. I was disappointed there wasn’t a new IP in there and we were just left with sequels, but these games are of a high quality and if they can release the next Skyrim-sized blockbuster next year I wouldn’t moan about a new IP ever again.
