Codemasters may be going full gas with the upcoming launch of F1 2020, but today is all about one of their slightly older, slightly less serious titles. Yep, Toybox Turbos is back and thanks to the Xbox Games With Gold scheme, it’s available to download absolutely free of charge on both Xbox One and Xbox 360.

First released back in 2014, Toybox Turbos was Codemasters’ attempt at reigniting the classic table top racing scene, pushing out a fast, frantic, fun experience to Xbox 360. It kinda worked too, and whilst it wasn’t able to provide quite the same experience as some proper old school racers in Micro Machines style, it did the job intended of it.

Now, in 2020 and thanks to the Xbox Games With Gold scheme for April 2020, we see Toybox Turbos stripped of the usual £7.99 price tag to become available for free to all with a valid Xbox Live Gold subscription. And with the power of Backwards Compatibilty in place too, that old native Xbox 360 title can also be played on your stupidly powerful Xbox One as well.

If you wish to spend a bit of time enjoying the madness of a table top racer and don’t fancy dropping any cash on the experience, it’s all a bit of a no-brainer – you should be heading to the Xbox Store this minute, flashing your Gold card at the door and requesting an instant download of the game. With multiple tracks in place, and even more vehicles and power-ups, it’s sure to waste more than a few minutes of your time.

Of course, if this isn’t for you but you still want to get hold of some free games, the Xbox Games With Gold scheme is also removing the price on the Knights of Pen and Paper Bundle. You should get that downloaded too.

Game Description:

Codemasters reboots the classic table top racing experience in Toybox Turbos! Collect & customise 35 vehicles, take on 18 crazy tracks & send your rivals into a spin with awesome power-ups, including mines, machine guns & giant car-mounted hammers! Master 6 modes in the single-player game, or take on 4 player multiplayer – local, online, or with a mix – perfect for one-more-go gaming sessions!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
