Travel in time with Syberia: The World Before on Xbox Series X|S and PS5

syberia the world before

Fans of the Syberia series should place focus today on Syberia: The World Before – the fourth instalment of the series. If you’re in the know, you’ll be aware that the developers Microids have a penchant for delivering challenging puzzles and riddles, all wrapped up in a captivating story. This time around, we are treated to a mind-bending tale of two lives in two separate millenia. Let’s check it out!

Releasing on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, following a PC release back in March of this year, Syberia: The World Before has you discovering the fates of two different people, intertwined through time.

First of all, we have Dana Roze – a 17-year-old girl residing in Vaghen in 1937, a time where her promising musical career is being threatened by whispers of war in the continent. Dana’s life and timeline is closely related to that of Kate Walker in 2004 Taiga. She is living a similar life of restriction; imprisoned in a salt mine and thrust into a sole-searching adventure. It’s all incredibly foggy as you jump into Syberia: The World Before for the first time – you must solve those puzzles to get at the meat of the story!

In this steampunk universe, you’ll be searching every nook and cranny for clues as to solving the riddles put in front of you. Expect to be opening up locks, repairing broken instruments, and much more in order to get through to the next section of the game. Your thoughts will be accompanied by a beautiful soundtrack composed by Inon Zur, the figure behind the music in Syberia 3, Fallout, and Dragon Age.

A more complete list of features, provided by Microids, includes:

  • Set off on an adventure across continents and through time. Play as both Kate Walker and Dana Roze as you get to the bottom of mysteries that have remained buried for too long.
  • Explore the fantastic and poetic world of Benoît Sokal, with its breathtaking sceneries and iconic characters.
  • Unveil a mysterious plot sprinkled with puzzles in the traditional Syberia’s fashion!
  • Discover two captivating stories with incredibly high stakes written by Benoît Sokal and Lucas Lagravette.
  • Allow yourself to be transported by the symphonic soundtrack composed by Inon Zur (Syberia 3, Fallout, Dragon Age, Prince of Persia).

Syberia: The World Before is the latest (and hopefully the greatest) in the Syberia series. You can now pick up a copy for Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC. For Xbox, it’s the good old Xbox Store that has you sorted for £41.74.

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
