Launching today on Xbox Series X|S and PC (including Steam) for £16.74, this latest release from the ever-unpredictable Strange Scaffold takes one of anime‘s biggest running jokes and somehow turns it into a driving game where mowing down pedestrians is part of saving the world.
It makes more sense than it sounds. Slightly.

The Isekai Meme Gets Its Own Game
If you’ve spent any time around anime or manga, you’ll probably have heard of Truck-kun – the tongue-in-cheek name given to the mysterious trucks that have an uncanny habit of sending unsuspecting protagonists to fantasy worlds. Truck-kun is Supporting Me From Another World?! doesn’t just reference the meme – it builds an entire game around it.
The story follows Carissa Ward, who is moments away from starting her shiny new corporate job before an unfortunate collision with… well… you. She wakes up in another world as a buff elf warrior, while you remain behind the wheel of a magical delivery truck. Naturally.
Deliveries, Skeleton Kings And Complete Chaos
Rather than embarking on a traditional fantasy quest, Carissa decides there’s a much faster way home.
Together, you race between two worlds completing deliveries, generating magical energy, flattening anything unfortunate enough to stand in your path and helping power an interdimensional gateway. Waiting at the end is the Skeleton King, whose Scroll of Resurrection might just offer Carissa a ticket back to reality.
Getting there involves spectacular vehicular mayhem, smashing through obstacles and embracing the game’s wonderfully ridiculous sense of humour.
Comedy First, But With Plenty Of Heart
The thing is, beneath the absurd premise lies a surprisingly character-driven story. The developers describe Truck-kun is Supporting Me From Another World?! as an “OVA-sized” take on the classic isekai formula, blending anarchic comedy with themes of friendship, connection and finding purpose in the most unexpected circumstances.
Of course, that emotional journey also happens to involve a magical truck, an elf living inside your head and repeatedly launching people into fantasy dimensions. So it’s not exactly your average coming-of-age tale.
“Truck-kun is an enormous leap for us into new aesthetics, genres, and gameplay mechanics,” says Strange Scaffold studio head Xalavier Nelson Jr. “I’m so excited for folks to fall in love with Carissa and her world(s), and the way they grow, just like we have.“
One Of The Most Original Releases Of The Year?
Whether it becomes your next obsession or simply leaves you wondering what on earth you’ve just played, Truck-kun is Supporting Me From Another World?! certainly won’t be accused of playing it safe. With its bizarre premise, fast-paced driving, anime-inspired humour and complete willingness to embrace the ridiculous, it already feels like one of the most memorable indie launches of the year – if only because absolutely nobody else would have thought to make this game.
