Survivalist Invisible Strain
Survivalist Invisible Strain – out now on Xbox

Ten years after the pandemic, civilisation is crumbling, but a new, insidious threat lurks within the remaining pockets of humanity. Survivalist: Invisible Strain, a unique and deeply complex survival RPG, is available right now on Xbox Series X|S.

Developed by Bob the Game Development Bot and published by Ginormocorp Incorporated, it challenges you not only to rebuild society but also to root out a hidden danger within your own community.

Priced at £9.99 and featuring a Free Trial for those wanting to test the waters, Survivalist: Invisible Strain throws you into the shoes of a refugee escaping collapsing settlements.

Your goal is to carve out a new life in the wilderness by any means necessary, but survival depends on more than just finding food and shelter.

Build a Community, Manage Personalities

This isn’t just about crafting and base building (though you’ll do plenty of that!). Invisible Strain features a sophisticated social simulation:

  • Recruit Survivors: Convince others to join your settlement using various methods – make them like you, earn their respect, or instill fear.
  • Living Characters: Every survivor has a name, personality, and memories. Your actions affect their mood and opinion of you. They gossip, work, sleep, eat, fight, and form relationships independently.
  • Manage Needs: Keep your community fed, warm, and safe from zombies, looters, and other external threats.
  • Quests & Objectives: Undertake tasks given by survivors, deciding how (or if) you want to complete them using negotiation, friendship, violence, stealth, or trickery.

Beware the Invisible Strain

Adding a thick layer of paranoia to the survival challenge is the titular Invisible Strain. This mysterious new form of the zombie virus doesn’t create shambling monsters immediately.

Infected individuals appear perfectly normal, infiltrating your community, interacting with others, and secretly spreading the virus… until one day, they turn.

Identifying and dealing with the infected before they destroy your settlement from within is a constant, lurking danger.

Survive Solo or Co-op

While you can brave this harsh world alone, you can also team up with friends. Survivalist: Invisible Strain supports online co-op for 2-4 players, allowing you to build, manage, and defend your community together.

Key Features

  • Deep Survival Simulation: Manage food, warmth, shelter, and defence.
  • Complex Social Simulation: Recruit survivors with unique personalities and memories; manage relationships via like/respect/fear.
  • Base Building & Crafting: Build a safe settlement and craft necessary gear.
  • The Invisible Strain: A hidden threat mechanic where infected survivors infiltrate your group.
  • Player Choice: Use negotiation, violence, stealth, or trickery to achieve goals.
  • Online Co-op (2-4 Players): Survive and build together.

Can You Rebuild and Survive the Hidden Threat?

Survivalist: Invisible Strain offers a demanding and incredibly deep simulation for fans of the survival and colony management genres, adding a unique layer of social deduction and paranoia.

It’s available right now on the Xbox Store exclusively for Xbox Series X|S, priced at £9.99. Don’t forget to check out the Free Trial first.

Survivalist: Invisible Strain Description

It’s been ten years since the pandemic began. Long-established settlements are collapsing, one after another, for unknown reasons. Survivors are running to the hills to escape, hoping for safety in remote places. As another refugee, you’re here to carve out a new life for yourself by any means necessary. You can recruit other survivors by making them like you, or respect you, or fear you. You’ll need to keep them fed, keep them warm, and build a settlement to keep them safe from zombies, looters, and whatever else is out there. Use negotiation, friendship, violence, stealth or trickery to achieve your objectives.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
