The whistle has gone again for Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge 4, with it returning to Xbox in newly remastered form.
Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge 4 Remastered is now available for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, promising upgraded visuals, 4K presentation, smoother 60 FPS gameplay and a host of improvements designed to give the game another run on modern hardware.
And yes, it comes a little more than a year after the original version launched in 2025.

Back On The Pitch In Remastered Form
If the name sounds familiar, that’s because we previously covered the launch of the original Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge 4 in 2025. This new version takes that game and gives it a visual and technical overhaul for a new generation.
The remaster features upgraded player models, improved lighting, enhanced animations and realistic hair physics, alongside mud and sweat effects to help bring the on-pitch action to life. Stadiums and environments have also been refreshed, with improved grass, field damage, wear and tear, and modern visual effects.
Perhaps most importantly for players on modern hardware, the game now promises 4K visuals and 60 FPS gameplay.
No Licences, Just Rugby
Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge 4 Remastered may not feature licensed teams (and we know that will be a killer for many), but it aims to make up for that with plenty of ways to play.
There are more than 12 competitions available, along with the ability to create your own rugby journey through Single Match, Multi-Team Competition, Be A Pro and an extensive multi-year Career Mode. Online multiplayer is also included for up to eight players.
The game also features 16 international Men’s and Women’s Sevens teams, alongside an enhanced Player Creator and Kit Creator for those who want to put their own stamp on the action.
Cross-Kicks And Custom Creations
On the pitch, the remaster includes 10 dynamic set-play options, including the Cross-Kick, while improved AI positioning and formations look to create a tougher and more authentic rugby experience.
There’s also the return of the cross-platform FanHub, allowing players to share, download and rate custom players, teams and other creations across supported platforms.
With the original 2025 version seemingly no longer available to purchase from the Xbox Store, Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge 4 Remastered now takes its place as the version available to rugby fans on Xbox.
